Do you guy bake it as one grouped mesh? I am using xNormals. When I use it, I bake out each item separately. Boots. Hat. Clothes. Skin. But I was wondering, if there was a better way? Do you bake 1 whole low poly character with a whole high poly version?
Hi guys! Got a question about baking occlusion maps in Painter; i'm used to using xNormal for baking, and i wanted to give Substance a go since the match naming option is really helpful (and overall, the baking process is more efficient). However, i usually use an hemisphere to get better light info (mentioned here) (since…
Hi all i have a small issue .im a beginner and im trying to understand the normal map baking and my first issue that i have is that my edges after baking smooth edges model to a hard edges model.. that my result after i bake the high to the low poly , and i checked the UVs and i think they seem fine i also saw in a forum…
Hey there, I have been working in a briefcase prop for a school project, by now I have both the HP and the LP but when I started baking normal maps my problems started. I get seams in some of the edges even though I have UV splits whenever I have a different smoothing group and I am using a cage to bake (I tried to bake…
Hi everyone ! I know there are a lot of threads about this but i still can't fix it ! My goal is to bake a simple cube with chamfered edges ! First of all , i know that adding some edges to the LP can fix it but i saw a lot of people doing it without adding edges and i want to know how ! My start cube Here is my problem…
Alternatively try this neat cuda accelerated AO -> vertex channels baker, it does regular vertex color or vertex alpha and it is close to instantaneous on most meshes. http://www.zhangy.com/main/blog/id/22 (that is ofcourse if ao is what you are wanting to bake)
It's a bit hard to see what the bumps in the handle should look like just from the wireframe. But the issue might be the Bias value in the baking menu. If your rays encounter multiple faces, it picks which one to use the normal from by checking whichever's distance is closest to the Bias value. If you leave it really low,…
I'm using 2015, I'd assume it works with previous versions as well. *** I wrote that the file format need to be the same, but it doesn't. In the Alpha map bake properties you just need to make sure you're using a format that supports an alpha channel: TIF, DDS, EXR.. (sorry was too lazy to edit the image :D )
I don't know how many people use this little trick, but I did a search on smart objects and didn't find any threads. That being said, I recently tried using smart objects to see if you could just link an image to a layer in Photoshop. Sure enough, you can! Lots of time saved not having to manually open files and copying…
