Does anyone know how to make an AO map on a water tight object with Inward facing Normals?

The only way I have seen is using 3dsmax, but I'm wonder if there's a way to do it in Xnormal, or maya.
Ive tried a lot of different settings and tried looking for ways to do it, but Ive come up against a wall where nothing seems to work.

You won't get the right results on recessed areas if you do that
