Hey guys! Just wanted to start a thread on the new side project I'm starting. So I've been seeing a lot of realistic environments/props coming out of artists here that have really inspired me to take up a project of my own to practice and learn more about materials and lighting in UE4. I thought for a while on what I…
Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of making a showerhead. The showerhead is stainless steel and is highly reflective which has given me some problem regarding the holes where the water sprays out. Those shouldn't look reflective and should be made in normals to look like holes. Is there a method to keep the holes none…
Hi I've created a material with a flipbook on the normal to simulate ripples from raindrops ... it still a work in progress, but I'm having real problems with a seam along the tiling edge. I've checked and double-checked the normal map itself and I'm 100% certain my frames tile ok. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this? pic…
I am having a problem with the default layered shader that I am using in Maya as it only seems to render out the top layer in Mentalray. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there another material I should be using? Here is the Maya software version http://www.flickr.com/photos/89952669@N05/8315921214/in/photostream…

Like remember the days of flying through a giant living organism in a shoot em up? Or the meat temple final level in the first Tomb Raider? Or the…

Hey all, there is a limited number of charts that can easily be found, but I find them to be insufficient in many case. I would be interested to know if you could share some of your source for reference values when creating PBR materials?
The new suite is being a bitch with my metal rough materials. Upon importing it seems everything is fine but once I try to apply one to my project the normal and roughness maps show blank. Any idea what could be causing this?
Hey guys, I'm trying to make a panner material function that will let me control each one of the speed parameters with a scalar parameter. I gave it a try and I've no idea why it's not working, could someone take a look and give a hand?
