Hey guys!
Just wanted to start a thread on the new side project I'm starting.
So I've been seeing a lot of realistic environments/props coming out of artists here that have really inspired me to take up a project of my own to practice and learn more about materials and lighting in UE4. I thought for a while on what I wanted to do, and one day it just popped into my head. Why not do something I'm familiar with and can get a lot of reference for? I'm going to model a section of the interior of my family home. I've got a lot of things I can play with by doing this, so I'm excited to tackle this project.
My goal is to work from big (start with the shell/walls/floor/ceiling) to small (props/couches/etc). I know how to model, so my main focus on this project is to study and learn more about Materials and Lighting in UE4.
I hope to learn a lot and get a lot of feedback. As an artist, I like hearing how each artist approaches things. It helps me grow more as a professional.
This is a side project that I'm working on outside of work, so at times I will be moving at a normal pace, and at other times it might be a bit slower.
I have tons of pictures I could share with you guys on the areas I plan on doing, but for now here's an overall view. I plan to model the Kitchen, Living Area, Dining Area, all the way to the hallway going up to the top of the staircase. I do not plan on modeling any of the bedrooms at the moment, but possibly in the future. I am still debating on modeling the guest bathroom in with it right now. But anyways, here's a few overall pics (and I also got a hold of the floor plans to help proxy my shell)
BELOW ARE REFERENCE PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN FOR ME TO USE AS A GUIDE
I will post more reference pictures as I move forward and start working on the smaller things. For now I'm working on the shell.

Ha! I thought the same thing
Samething here, in this case if this happens to you, my advice would be to slowly press backspace on the keyboard and evacuate the forum calmly, pretend you didn't see anything
So initially I was like "WHAT DEMON MAGIC IS THIS!?" and then I was like that pitchspork on the wall is SOo fake, and those chairs are too smooth. Nice try OP! Can't fool me..
