Thank you all for warm opinions everyone! @Andrew We wanted to push idea after pro players loading screens a little futher with this one. I dont know if that would apply to every pro player set but I felt for S4 Magnus that can be a "thing". We wanted to achieve effect similar to Drew Struzan posters. Well I would definitly want to read more opinions from community on this, however with new tab for comments I am not getting almost any comments on items
@Konras: Great idea! The face looks kinda odd to what we've been watching so far, but it's so well done that people may love it! My only suggestion would be to change his expression to a more agressive look, since well, it's Magnus featuring by his side. The player's face is too gentle and calm, while Magnus is dividing earth with his skill. But besides that, what an awesome work, as always @Thnk: lovin dat puck!
Hi people,
I'm working on Dragon Knight for my second dota skin. I know that one of the best set made is actually for this character but I hope to do a good job with the design and the execution.
For now you can have a look at the hipoly of the armor. The design is influenced by another "dragon" of the video game industry that I really love. Kudos to the person naming it .
The overall shape should feel significantly different from the other skins made while still staying in the lore of the character.
I hope you like it and soon I will update with sword and shield.
C&C are very welcome of course.
@phobalein: Really reminds me of anime armor... but hey, nothing like that is in dota, so it's original in that way...
But the helm dissapoints me a lot. Not enough dragon in it >,<
Konras : Personally the face in the loading screen is a bit off-putting, but the illustration is just awesome, as expected !
Thnk : I like the design, you should definitely stay in that direction
So, I have finally finished my mount bundle. Sorry for all the gifs
Ehi guys, thanks for the nice comments on the armor! @VOvosunt: well anime and manga have a great influence on me since I started drawing 10 years ago . Still the main ref is not a specific anime but more a mix of stylish design you see in there and some games. @Gajun and @Vayne4800: Thanks!
I have to give credit to motenai for suggesting from the beginning to spice up the Helmet with more horns!... What I was trying to do was to give some space to the design having the horns on the top of the armor framing an helm that was calm in the overall shape and volume.
From your comments I see that perhaps I can try something more aggressive and I will do so with something I have in mind already.
I will update later this evening if I manage to test it after work.

Awesome mounts and a great idea! Saw them on the steam workshop originally. The only one I didn't like so much was the Abaddon mount which has a very similar head shape and feel to Jeremy's (except his is blue).
And for me, fresh out of the oven featuring one-click matcap baking. Combined ambient occlusion, diffuse and cavity maps. Modo ladies and gentlemen!
as said before I went to change the look of the helmet of my dragon knight set.
Now he got more horns!
They are actually the one from the dragon on his back. Not to be lazy but to keep a continuity since the original idea of the helmet was to honor the dragon relic he has on his back.
I hope this is better received than the previous iteration!
I'll move to the weapons now.
@ Snowstorm: very nice execution man. Clean bake and nice functional design. I like a lot to see belts and hinges that let you understand how the armor or weaponry is put together.
@Snowstorm Those bakes are epic!! @blossomalex So much good detail that I love! Upvoted from top to bottom @phobalien I like this desingn. Maybe its a little jrpg however I am sure it will fit. I see only one problems, or ok maybe two problems. First is how will you difive his coat into parts. Second is if you will manage to do this in tri budget for DK. Ahh last thing. I think helmet horns could be different from ones he carry on shoulders. They could be directed top as those of Terrorblade. That should look good from ingame view.
I finished today the flat color texture for Lifestealer...blood is kept on a separate layer, in case i'll have to remove it, if the design will ever be accepted anyway....i'm already thinking of a possible low violence version for the back.
If i haven't mentioned it before, concept and sculpt are from Phobalien
This time around we would like to ask artists to avoid the use of dragons and written Chinese characters, as well any concepts that involve human skulls, blood and gore. Additionally, to have the best chance of having your work make it into the game, please be careful not to mix cultural concepts in your designs, such as traditional divisions between the dress of children and adults, warriors and civilians and upper and lower classes.
i'm not sure what does it means....
avoid using mainstream designs that appear over and over again like last year people spamming horse head helmet? and avoid using chinese characters? (because i know last year people keep slapping chinese character no matter what)
or we are forbidden to draw cheong sam (or etc) traditional cloths that exist in real world ???
also i wonder wukong (goku -or- monkey king) will release in 2015 or 2016, because 2016 is year of monkey.
I think they want all sorts of cultural elements its just not year of the dragon
What gets me most confused is this forbid to mix cloths of children and adults, warriors and peasants, low and high class. For people outside from China its impossible to even know we are mixing things up. I could really use some examples of what to avoid.

I'm pretty sure they mean that you can, but it'll be best/safest to avoid it

Holy shit that's a very PICKY matter...don't wanna be unrespectful, but sounds like they don't want their clothes mixed around too much, it's kinda limiting for an artist creativity...
Chinese Dota is being my pain in the ass of 2014...

Lets see:
- Tight requirements = CHECK
- No Particles = CHECK
- Singles = most likely not considering the trend = CHECK
- Sets = Possibly 8-12 sets get accepted = if half of the top artists made stuff = no chance for people like me = CHECK
- Status of existing stuff in workshop = ignored = CHECK
This gets better and better for the "workshop community". We are a community right?
that is sarcasm hehe.... (i wonder how many americans mixed up korean, chinese and japanese together... it is kinda like how i mix up people from australia, murica, UK... maybe ireland too) :P
i know haha, i'm chinese too (just non-mainland china chinese)
I think they want all sorts of cultural elements its just not year of the dragon

this time everyone will be design Ram head all over on Doom, leshrac, and maybe Chaos knight, chen, mirana, maybe luna... also enchantress

Don't forget about Sven, he is just too easy to turn into a ram, it would be a sin to miss this chance!
Also, someone must have a goat/ram as a mount - Abaddon for example.

That armor is sick :poly136: Helm needs something though

damn those are some attractive bakes
:> woots! glad you like them.
I'm gonna take a break after this set till the end of the year thereabouts, I'll try to find time to document the process then.
Also, colours! XD
Guess I might have to redo at least parts of the helm after all huh...
Check it in the workshop here:

Nice bakes! But I think you should revisit the color scheme on the crests/armor. Its not that it isn't bad, but I think it can be better
@Art Awesome set, I especially like head piece. Very menacing.
@Monetai great work as always
@Toasty, The luna set looks nice but it seems kind of thin and frail. That might just be me though.
I finished a weapon for VS
Thanks man. I guess you mean the anime like feeling right?
Concept: Square
Particles: Andumy
3D+Texturing+Loading Screen:Stuburrito
I heard somewhere that its getting a remodel or something.?

i would rather stay away from goatsss XDD
i somehow will predict soon there will be many leshrac set coming out.

Seems pretty obvious to me.
Pretty much, don't do this; :V
I guess they want to avoid any sort of cultural elements so it feels less like a chinese exclusive patch. In short, make cool shit influenced by rams.
What gets me most confused is this forbid to mix cloths of children and adults, warriors and peasants, low and high class. For people outside from China its impossible to even know we are mixing things up. I could really use some examples of what to avoid.

is that a bad thing now. i can't keep up with all these newfangled trends
