I'll probably be wanting to grab dinner around that time on both days and I'm sure other people will want to as well, so having a couple of meetups doesn't seem like a bad idea. It'd also let people who are only there for a couple of days meet some fellow Polycounters if they can't make it to one meet or the other.
The only issue I can see for 6 on Tuesday is that's the same time as the screening of Indie Game the Movie.
I've Setup a Skyp Group that just me and Xavier right now, but it might be a nice way to share info at GDC and hopefully people can go there if they cant find the meetup
If you want to be added hit me up on here or add bonebrew22 to skype
Ill be there Wed thurs friday. I'll be at the Riot boot looking at portfolios and recruiting. Im down to hang out on thursday. I would love to see you guys.
I would love to get another "Class Photo" like we did back in 09:
I think I have a place to stay from Tue-Thur is anyone staying Friday night leaving Saturday? I need a place to crash Friday night it looks like. Hit me up in PM if you can help.
i am curious as to what you guys bring to GDC portfolio wise? cards, resumes, printed images, ect?
I have an iPad that I'm going to be loading a bunch of images onto. I also have some business cards, but I have my doubts that they'll be terribly useful.
Someone I know is bringing a printed portfolio of various concept pieces he's done, but I'm also going to be sharing the iPad with him.

DVDs are USELESS. Do NOT get demo reals made. When I went in 2010, only 1 booth in the career expo accepted my reel, the other 20+ I visited turned them down.
Cholden is correct. Get things printed from a really nice printer and walk around with a sleek black portfolio.
Ipads are awesome.
Business cards are awesome.
Some recruiters like resumes, but I saw a lot of business cards go into fish bowls last time. It's best to just try to find the artists and show them your work.
+1 for iOS device with work on it. I've done that in the past and gotten traction simply from having work at the fingertips of the person there.
Business cards and resumes are cool too I guess. I would say just ask for their card and email them the following week to formally send in your stuff. Everyone is so busy at the show that they don't get back to normal for a week or two.
Goraaz : I did a few portfolio reviews at the Blizzard booth last year and I found the Ipad (or any tablet, really) the best support to show/look at your work. If you have one, make sure to bring it with you
I had a laptop last year and no one complained, but last week somebody at Obsidian told me they dont like them cause there not easy to look though. dunno Im sure it would be fine, but then again I didnt get hired last year :P
Very belated joining onto a forum I should have been participating in for quite some time now. Going to try and drop by and say hi on Thursday and meet some artists. It'll be nice to run into people that do things besides code and business development too.

If only one person complained then tough luck for them. You can't please everyone!

Doesn't mean you shouldn't try.
I'm going the tablet route myself, bought one specifically for GDC (plus they're kinda cool). Time to frantically polish the portfolio before I ship out.
Though I said a laptop is fine, if you do have the cash to fork out to buy an iPad, I would very strongly recommend it. It's very easy to pass around and the colors / light are very vibrant on it.
Anyone wanna do something monday or tuesday? i get there sunday afternoon but i only have an expo pass so i dont have much to do at all those days.
I'm going to be in SF all day Tuesday, so I'll probably be hanging out with my coworker and some friends until the meetup at Lefty's and the IGDA party. I'd love to meet up for lunch or something.

Turns out our hotel is right on the corner where lefty's is, so I'm gonna try and get the lot together from DE and see if we can meetup with you all there!

Printed portfolios can be the most memorable.
business cards are great for finding folks on the long term.
resumes are quickly lost in the stacks of things to read over the week.
Just keep in mind how hectic shows can be so try to be brief and memorable. Swizzle has a good point about the ipad. They look cool.

Important question: Who here likes sushi?

@Swizzle: I'm up for sushi.
Sushi is the best answer to any question.

Could we turn this into a poll for best times for the meetup or update the OP for time and dates?
If anyone want's contact info, email me: daniel@rose3d.com
Good thing I decided to pick up a tablet for GDC. We'll see how much I use it.
Really excited to finally put faces to names
Same. Overnight shipping... don't fail me now.
We'll have a booth (Tencent Boston) and we're hiring for some artist positions.
Can't wait!
