I've been picking at this pic for years now, and every time I open it I add an hours work and change it up, then close it for another few months.
I hope you saved the progress, it's time for a timeline.
Come to think of it, that's an awesome idea for a personal project. Start an image. Wait two months, change it. Rinse, repeat, do a timeline in the end.
Is it UDK or CE3, nevertheless it looks very coherent
UDK, I originally wanted to go with CE3 but it seems like you have to jump through a few more hoops to get models from Maya into CE3 so I decided to stick with what I know for this scene.
Snefer - That tesselation is gnarly. I'm loving your Alien scene
dfacto - That concept has some potential. Clean up some of the outline and your shadows and see how it fits. I feel like you're missing a lot of potential in your color palette as well. Don't be afraid to splash in some saturation.
biofrost - Wow, that's spot on with the concept. Amazing work.
Awesome concepts Suburbbum! Makes me think of a sci-fi MMO, although I'm not sure why they'd be using swords and shields in a sci-fi universe. Maybe guns were never invented in their universe and they just advanced medieval weapons for thousands of years?
Been home sick so I figured: hey lets make trees. sick - trees, makes perfect sense. Been doing some materials and also started to try some shapes. not too happy with the overall feel of the tree so far. all very WIP.
after lots of faffing and also finally following some good advice, i finally got the hair done..
i really wish i can learn to texture as well as the others here.. just looking at the voldemort model and am thinking how i would love to get that kind of great texturing onto my model..

practice and research. trial and error. thats one way to learn. if not, the best way to learn.
Here's another uniform for my mod, though it sort of sucks compared to everything else in this thread.
It looks great Docm, though I do suggest a little bit more dirt on the pants. Also on the inside of the pants put a little bit more wear and tear/chaffing because the saddle would do alot of that.
Working on my cathedral set in the Warhammer 40k universe. Thought I'd share some of the progress here aswell.
My newest acomplishment is the finished pillars and the bows above them of my blockout:
benji: the seat needs some wear and tear. it looks too pristine next to the rusted out body of the scooter. something like some torn sections, perhaps a spring and foam exposed
Hey guys, soo much great stuff here. Its really intimidating but I'm gonna post this up anyway. Its not 100% done yet but I need to step away from it for awhile and work on something new. Feel free to make any comments or critiques I could use some input from people more experienced that myself.
Hi, guys first time posting in here. Doing a self portrait. I'm using LeoCov's clsshader in Maya. Has simulated SSS, Cubemaps and all that good stuff. Still Chuggin away at it. ATM it's really high res and polycount as well. 4k maps. WIP

Crosspost from my thread. Think I finally got the lighting nailed down.

But yea, awesome concepts!

Video turntable with fancy stuff, lights and specular map.
Nice concept!
I'm eager to see the result. :poly121:
UDK, says it right there in his signature.
firstkeeper - I really like the colors your getting into the texture. I wish the face wasn't mirrored, but it's still great work.
and I'm calling this done, time to move onto something simpler (and hopefully quicker).
@ oddeyes your lighting could use some more shadows.
here is a scene i'm working on. all is far from final, and currently only rendered with mental r.
will put it into udk soon
Solid work people.
[edit] - hair and beard are placeholders.
Diffuse only, no specular yet
Have been mainly focusing on the face, got some seams to fix at the arms, but so far I like it, but definitely have to get those eyes textured.
BOW TO LORD VOLDEMORT!

morning warmup snakehook abomination...

Some work over the last few days when I had time. I added a bunch into the scene on the left...but this is the shot with just the environment.
Mix of 3d and 2d.

Something from my sculpting and texturing practice.
please take your own advice :poly122:

Love it!

I'm working on the textures for this cinematic moped : any crits at this stage? it's just a viewport grab by the way, diffuse/basic spec only.
To be honest I think her boobs hanging out like that just looks plain silly.
Skyezerr nice hard surface work love to know how you aproached this in zbrush
