Thought I'd post in here and gets some feedback on what I'm attempting to do. Never done a full character and got pretty inspired after seeing Mr. Freeze in Arkham City. He seemed similar to one of my characters and want to try and bring him alive.
Just a block thus far and I need to research more to how I'd want to build him.
Sketch of what I'd like to go for atm and can't decide which I like better: larger forearms or regular....but blocked out the larger arms at the time.
Here is something I'm working on, it's based on a Natural Selection concept piece. Currently doing hi-polys, leaving the inner details up to NDO2. Still WIP, more images in my sketchbook, C&C always welcomed

Lowpoly airplane. 5k triangles for the plane, 2k triangles for the engine.
Just a normal map and an AOmap atm, pulled a Xoliulshader on it for niceness...
sorry for huge image, but it´s kind of a wide subject :P Image is just a photoshop pimped preview render. I actually used gradient map on this (first time ever for me), thanks to polycount news article about gradient map.

Oh you totally shouldn't go there. But you wont be screwed. I mean yeah you will be, but not with penises.
Like Nordahl154 mentioned, no, it shouldn't conjure phallic images. I was aiming for for iconic crystal, but if you're raising this concern I guess it's time to start a real thread and solicit some feedback.
Really nice stuff in this thread, heres a way i make specular maps from diffuse in udk, you guys probably know how to do it sevral ways but i thought i could atleast post it here if somone is interested, and im also open for feedback and critic of what you think or how you think it works and things that might could be changed.
Hmm, I'd say deriving specular directly from diffuse is usually a bad idea, there's no 'one size fits all' approach. When creating a diffuse I group layers per material and use adjustment layers per group to create the spec.
also you wouldn't need coloured spec for something like wood, it's generally only needed for metallic materials I'm sure this has been posted many times before but it's a great explanation
Work in progress shot for a game I am making with some friends. Greek Mythology hack and slash. The character art (ozren), terrian, and terrian texture (psy), and grass (udk)are not mine. The rest of the work is mine still wip but wanted to show.

I'm re-using my trees from my japanese courtyard... so I'll make new ones once I've established where I'm gonna go with this.
Suggestions for where to take this conceptually would be awesome... also I need tips on layout.

Hey Adam, I remember you working on this set before..Looks good man! I would suggest keeping the Asian style trees and making it future Tokyo style. Maybe add a large corporate style building above the courtyard as a focal point. get a good mix of plant life and organics inside that courtyard but a really cold and ominous presence hovering above the courtyard? Or just have the crazy futuristic sci-fi stuff surrounded by organic cliffs, waterfalls etc. Just suggestions.. Keep it up man..
I think its looks really good on diffuse, and maybey use more stronger light for scene.
I also hope that you are going to pose wall-e in another way to get the wall-e character feel.
