Trying to learn to unwrap and texture better, like 40 minutes for the model, but yeah nothing special, time to texture, 930 polys:P
I'd like to point out that it is based of a super boring ref.
@Seth and Tehsplatt- basically if you mangle a low poly cylinder in zbrush and then dynamesh it, you get some interesting artifacts on the edges of the "wraps".
heres a vid of the process- its short and theres no instruction but hopefully you can get the point https://vimeo.com/44911519
Ive been noodling some more on this on my off time. May take it all the way - who knows
Damn... so much amazing stuff... that grass is insane.
I have just finished a fence piece for a cemetery asset set that I am trying to complete. Lot's more still to do.
Been working together with Phung Dinh Dzung. Here are the previous ones that are finished.
Well this is my first fully textured object as well as bake I have done that I actually did correctly. Also my first time using Xoliul, and, well a lot of things, took about 7 hours:P (actual working time) I know the textures are really large but it's first person for a mod that uses x3 680's so that isn't an issue.
The blood is Covenant from Halo.
Pretty cool gilesruscoe. I kind of want him to have smaller eyes now that he has 2 sets of years and that might actually make him look a bit more evil too...
Dan this is supper awesome I hope you take it all the way to textured LP model His abs seem a bit too narrow.
TehSplatt: Looks great, buddy. The only thing that still bugs me is that under his eyebrows, the original sculpture has the volumes going outwards. In yours, volumes is going inwards. Put the two side to side and you'll see
Dan!: Good job, man!
KyleJensen: Very good. I always love (well done) hand painted things.
Fightpunch: Sick! Really like both these sketchup vehicles and the 2d thumbs on the previous pages.
Baj Singh: I like this guy, tho the entire color scheme for this image is a bit warm, there is very little color contrast.
Dan!: I really like what you're doing with this guy. Lot of fun, tho if I were to crit... What is the purpose of the cyborg tubes? They go from his limbs to his...brain? why? Dont his bulgy veins already do that? There isn't any other overt cyberware for them to connect to. I'd say he needs a backpack or metal spine or something else to sell the concept more IMO.
Spent a bit more time on this gal to make her a little more realistic.
This time I WAS looking at refs, mostly of Noomi Rapace and Sigourney Weaver (who were my original alien fighting inspirations for this bust).
Dave_W His tutorials are awesome. Found him reading Jeff Patton's post about shaders for leaves here. Though I didn't use his technique (mine is mental ray) I totally stole his camera angle using the shadow off the corner of the house.
ScoobyDoofus: She looks more realistic, but I kinda prefer the old version more. There was a lot more tension in her face and the oddities made her look interesting. She's fairly "generic" looking now. Might be worth pushing some of that back in? Especially around the eyes and brow.
Scooby awesome work man. Beautiful colors.
Here is something I started working on and wanted to complete it a bit more before I post it but I am out of time and going away for the weekend so kind of unfinished. I am taking my time with this one and even if it is going to be fully dressed model I decided to make it an anatomy study. Here is what i have so far:
ScoobyDoofus: I agree with Talon. What struck me the most with the older version was the overall contrast of the flesh colours. It's a catch 22 because although it looks more realistic, the other older one looked better IMO. With that said it would be pretty strange to see someone in real life with exaggerated skin colour :O
Other than that I guess you could work some more detail into the hair, especially towards the top where it mirrors as there is a flat patch.
I like designing armour so I figure I should figure out how to model it. If you guys know any tutorials other than the Joan of Arc one with armour I'm all ears. TO BE CONTINUED... but very distracted reading Iron Man comics lately :x
I think I've finally finished my highpoly tank - I'm mega proud, it's probably the most detailed highpoly I've made so far, I'm really looking forward to baking it down and texturing it.
Have to redo the bust detail as I was an idiot and messed up the base mesh but he was the progress I hit before I noticed my mistake, was still lots to go

Thanks everyone for the kind words and feedback. Still texturing. I need to start on the cape.
pretty much my first time working with mudbox. I'm enjoying it so far.
Working on a environment...I want to model something for this, but don't know what. Probably something sci-fi, Lost Planet inspired.
*salivating*
Great stuff man!

// also fixing some texture issues.. wip wip wip
Going with a desert camo scheme, the design seems like its quite suited for the desert.

Rico: That is very nice, what tools outside of UDK did you use?
Dan!: Good job, man!

Great work all of you guys, you are the best.
@duncan that superman is great!
Another sketchup design.

@BitGem - Nice style, watching it
I love that, it looks like we have similar tastes in CE3 scenes lol

haha so we do! though i imagine your much more experienced with CE3 than me may have to ask you a few questions
Are you guys ready for some cross posting action up in here? I would love to hear some of your feedback on my wip thread.
