I did most of the textures and worked on the light for a scene.
Just dropping by to say that I wrote this in a response to your post earlier :P
just droppping by to say that your new portfolio looks really sweet!
trying to put together a portfolio for myself atm, having a hard time coming up with a nice logo/header for the site. Liked yours design and you domain name, its easy to remember
Thanks man! Im glad to hear!
A good tip would be to use your name if possible (but still keeping it short)and maybe add in something like: 3D.com (like: ErikN3D.com)if you are a 3D artist, Or maybe 2D.com if you are a 2D artist. Good luck with it! You have really improved since you first started posting here, send me your portfolio when you are done.
Ps, Oh also! As a header design you could eaither try a stamp-thinkey like I did, or just try something simple that expresses what you work with (say environment for instance, you could do a lot of cool things with trees and roots :P) Anyway im sure it will all work out! I would be happy to give you some feedback ^^
You've improved! Really, I love the color/mood of your last work. But you still could improve your composition skills, I think. It's a little hard to focus on one thing. The eye isn't clearly enough told where to go to.
(The red shrooms have such a color contrast to the rest of the scene that they catch your intention, through you know that you should be looking at the deer, which seems supposed to be the main point... but that's nippicking ;D) Maybe it would already help to also place some nice red shrooms next to the deer or so... dunno =D
There is some really substantial improvement seen throughout this sketchbook. Well done!
One tip I do have for you is to use bigger brushes - almost so that it's a little annoying to use. This forces you do consider your strokes and your intentions a lot more and in return you get a much better "workout" as well as a much cleaner looking painting. My own "mentor", so to speak, always told me "the less strokes you need to describe something, the better". Try to analyze an object and identify what is the bare minimum of information needed to make sure that form reads the way you want it to. It doesn't mean you can't have textures or all that good stuff. It's just when it comes down to the major forms, really being critical about how you describe those forms will in time give you a much better understanding of them.
Hope that little ramble was helpful.. I needed to remind myself of this as well
Thats some real nice feedback SelvesteHE. A friend of mine told me to try the same thing a couple of years back, and I really feel that helped me improve!
Thanks for the feedback guys! really helpful stuff
Started this one with large strokes and it felt really great to get so much done within such a short time. Then i started going in with smaller strokes and it kinda killed the energy of the image abit.
So gonna have to practice more bigger stroke images and then not go in with small brushes and doing unnecessary stuff^^
