Agreed. I love texture and there's a lot of good stuff in there, but maybe tighten it up a bit more. It's getting a little out of control in some areas that I feel should be smoother. Very nice city scape! It's sort of like a modern castle. Great stuff!
You have a great sense of speed and eagerness in your work! However, I would suggest you try and practice very basic stuff, and go at it from there. I am one such person myself, and I assure you that your work will improve if you take it easy and just focus on beginner-stuff again, however boring it may seem. Keep up the good work!
your stuff has a very minimalist feel to it. It might just be the black and the white scheme but they got a limbo feel to em. In terms of the the setting you are drawing I can see you going anywhere from an oddworld type feel to something like ico, depends on what you want to do with it. Keep posting, stuff looks good
thanks gillmeister
Just now noticed that i draw alot of mountains/rock surfaces, i should probably start studying some basic stuff like Cheese_Shinobi suggested so there isn't mountains in every single image :S
the first one is just a speedpaint i did and in the second image i tried to get some nice values going on and too create some depth in it. it doesnt feel as flat as all my other images so i feel kinda happy about that
Cheers m8, keep grinding them environment images! : ) I would suggest that you work abit more on the lighting inside the images to better define form/shapes. Perhaps try and study environment images made by other artists (just throwing ideas out there). Keep at it : )
I like this one the most, it has a very nice feel to it. Good to se so much material keep it up! Oh and also, Black and white is fun, but dont be afraid to work with color, I know I was in at first but once you get the hang of it it´s super fun!
Here is some very nice enviroment art from another artist, dunu you might get some inspiration from it, I know I did ^^ - http://www.artbypavel.com/

Dude that pavel guy is awesome :O
I know right? He has a really nice style ^^
Yeah I had a lot of trubble getting into colors, I started with grayscale paintings and used overlay layers to color my paintings. However I found that overlay layers did not give me the control I wanted over my colors (they got this metalic look to them) and so I eventually decided I had to try to learn to paint with colors properly. One of my biggest problems was that I didn´t know which colors to start with and all my paintings turned out kinda boring, flat, and way to monochrome. In my opinion a white canvas is really scary so you should just paint something, anything really. Oh And use lots of colors, add blue, green, red, purple and so on, and any/every shade of that. once you have some paint on the canvas you can pull colors from your canvas and use them, remember that chaos is good
Its a bit like jumping from a cliff, jump straight out dont think ^^
ErikNilsson: Yeah i always do greyscale images and when i feel really daring i use overlay layers with colors in them :S Im kinda stuck there right now, tried to do some speedpaints with colors today and they turned out reeeally ugly.Need to do some more practice sketches before ill even think about uploading them here :S
AlbinLundahl: Thanks. You totally should, it's really fun
Eoq: Great advice! will keep that in mind while i keep grinding environment images ^^
dumping some images then im of to bed.
here is one of the better speedpaints that i did today and 2 school assignments for our intro to 3d course.
the wall texture is tiling really bad, might fix that later if i have the time
it was for a school animation assignment which should contain an element of surprise, thats why the ending is abit ...wierd. Couldn't figure out an nice surprise without it adding alot of extra work to be done.
Well havent got any fancy model to throw the textures on yet, so this will do.
hmm the textures always become kinda blurry when i render them with mental ray in maya, do someone know a way to get better renders of my diffuse textures?
So I and some friends entered the global game jam 2012 and this is the game we created during those 48 hours
Quick explanation: You get 2 points for hitting the viking with the crown while you get 1 point for hitting everybode else.
You get 1 point for every 10th button mash.
You have a really nice, colorful style for most of your images that I like a lot. The fact that you do a tonne of thumbnails is something I don't see many students do (at least in the school I was in, but it's the norm for artists), which is pretty sweet. Looking great.

The first image are 4 speedpaints were i spent around 15-20 min on each and on the second image i spent around 2 hours.
Became kinda caught up in small details in the one with the floating stone so forgot about adding in some background in it before my time was up :S
Now im gonna go and read the last 50 pages of A Clash of Kings by George RR Martin, his books are frikking awesome
Anyway some more images from today.

Mind posting the diffuse map for me to look at it in details?
Will appreciate it! (:
Joe: Sure thing.
kinda messed up with the proportions of things when i uv mapped the items. The uv space for the cork is way bigger than it should be
and also 2 random textures for handpainted texture practice
10k tris and 512 diffuse
1k tris and 512 diffuse
dont remember the tris count and texture size for this one.
Small 3d environment im working on atm. Need to make a new grass texture, and a texture for the transition between stone and grass.

played around with the light in the scene
Played around some with the color balance adjustment
