are you relying on texture overlay for your painting? if so i would say try to stop it for now and learn to paint it yourself, which will produce better results and once you get the hang of that use textures to enhance that you already have.
If not, then i apologize and note i don't mean to offend
But textures is a huge timesaver! ^^
Well im trying to learn how to paint different kinds of materials aswell but so far using textures looks better. Anyway thanks for the feedback, appreciate it
Hand painted stuff looks awesome! You have a great eye for colour. But like the Almighty Thunder said, there are some things about the gravestone that are off. The crosses on the top don't really look that great to me...Seams like they should either be engraved on the front or be actual geo sticking out of the top. The grass coming out is a good idea, but it kind of looks like it's leaking green goo. Maybe make it more mossy?
And probably the most important thing is the way you painted the edges. I'm not too sure why there are cracks along the edge... It would be better if it was more of a slab, so the edges dont have those dark lines, ya know?
Anyways, keep up with the texturing, it looks awesome. Your concept art could use some improvement though, just keep at it
Thanks for the feedback guys!
Completly agree with the comments about the grass, so did a new gravestone with some grass im more happy with. now that you pointed it out the edges looks kinda wierd so skipped them on the new gravestone
Your speed paints and handed painted textures are really inspiring, especially to a beginner digital artist such as myself. Watching your progress from simple greyscale paintings to colorful was very interesting to see. I'm looking forward to seeing more paintings and handpainted textures soon.
I can see a definite improvement going through your work! Keep it up.
Will say that your matte landscapes are improving over your texture work - I feel that in that department you could really be adding a little more detail.
The painting looks good! Though you need to tighten up some areas like the brush control in the first painting! The temperature textures is good! So just take care of this!
would you mind elaborating about what you mean with brush use?
haven't used any custom brushes on the textures for these textures if thats what you mean.
I feel honored seeing the first one. But you should perhaps add a few words on the strong influence you got by my image.
The second one has a lot of potential, but it lacks execution. You haven't thought enough in the first stages of the painting. You should really invest more time in your drawing and setting up the image in your head. Where do you stand, where are you looking? Are you looking right at it or at an angle? (Angle most times makes it a bit more interesting) Who is in the image and what does he do there?
And you have those 3 prominent light shapes and you didn't really play with them. You could've diversified them a lot more. I understand where you want to go, but it doesn't have to be so obvious. One eye could be smaller, different shape etc. And what is that thing on the image-left? don't really get that part.
Try to be sure about what you want to paint. It will always come out way better. Ask yourself questions! Can be tedious if you just want to paint, but those 5minutes pay out big time in the end and you will be way happier with your paintings!

some haindpainted stuff
1. i am not sure why there is a cross on top of it
2. Why is there grass growing out from the middle of it?
3 the edges look the same as the cracks
Also you don't need to chamfer the edges for the post of the fence.
Work on that and it should be a cool environment
