Took me a while to find this thread. Apologies if there is a new thread.
I started building a Eurorack modular synth (bye bye money) and this is my first little noodle. Totally random and me just twiddling knobs. Loads of fun!
@Stinger88 Man I tried out Renoise when I first started and I've been trying to remember the name of the program since! I couldn't figure out how to use it back then. Is it any good?
I made this d&b remix of Kotake & Koume's theme from Ocarina of Time a while ago;
And I've got an album being released in 4 DAYS! I'm pumped.
i have maaaaaaany commercial and uncommercial songs, but my favorite is this one,
i learned to create music bymyself in FL studio as a hobby and i wanted to go to university to study 3d. In the end, i am self learning 3d now since i have no money for uni :P
Thats a friggin awesome album @Ashervisalis. Thanks for sharing. Listened to it a few times now. Right up my street. What do you software/hardware you using?
Have you featured on New Retro Wave at all? You should send them your stuff.
Renoise is cool, maybe a bit limited but its free (*was, not sure now) so its good to mess about in. I'm no expert, so i don't really know how it stacks up against more professional software packages. Been a loooong time since I used cubase or anything like that.
@Stinger88 Thanks! I use FL Studio for the DAW, and Massive, Serum, Kontakt for the majority of the synths. I might have sent New Retro Wave some tunes, but they said no because it didn't quite fit the sound. Maybe my sound is a bit too modern for them? Then again, it might have been another 'retro ____' YouTube channel that I'm thinking about.
Ashervisalis I only asked because it seemed exactly like the kinds of music they play. They have quite a wide range of "synthwave" so i'm not sure why yours wouldn't get played. Its certainly produced to a higher standard than some of the stuff i've heard on there.
love the vocals and voice over clips. Are they original or from something else? Also love the driving beat and ducking bass line on the track at 10mins in.
inspirational stuff both musically and while i'm drawing!
@Stinger88 All the vocals I recorded with friends, I'm always a bit too freaked out to sample other things in case it gets me into trouble! The girls who sang on the album have really nice voices, eh? I'll check and see if it was, in fact, New Retro Wave whom I sent the songs to. It'd be cool to have some more promo for the album.
Actually, with this album, I had everything so close to being done, and then I dropped my computer and it messed up the hard drive, so after I got the computer fixed, I had to work from a backup from 4 months prior and redo so much. It wasn't all too bad because during that 4 months I wasn't working on the album too much; I was doing a bunch of other things for my labels. Some of the working files were lost, but I had (unfortunately low quality) mp3 versions, so I had to send those off to mastering. The low quality sound kind of fits the theme though, so I got lucky.
Since then i have been concentrating on my music and sound engineering, I am a qualified BSc Multimedia & Digital Systems expert which trained me in sound engineering and music technology. I am also a lyricist and multi-instrumentalist, I play bass and guitar and MIDI keyboard.
I thought I would share my music with you. Hope you enjoy. Also, If you need music and audio, feel fee to hit me up.
Here are some example of cinematic Urban music, EDM and Hip-Hop that may inspire you:
This is "The Seasons EP" that I released as a concept album. All instruments and production by W.Maccabe (me) It is available for £3 from bandcamp and also is available currently at 75% off with the discount code: theseasons75 https://thechessdeck.bandcamp.com/album/the-seasons-ep
Some real cool stuff guys, didn't know so many of us were musicians
Here's one of my bands songs we released over 4 years ago, we still play and want to release more stuff, but real life happens and so it all goes on a slow pace. Im the vocalist.
@Justin Meisse "This video contains content from TuneCore, who has blocked it on copyright grounds." I saw this pop up on my Youtube feed yesterday without knowing it was you, and clicked because of the obvious nod to NIN's latest. Any chance you could upload it elsewhere, like Soundcloud or Bandcamp?
@Alchemical Man respect for anybody who can use their voice like yours. I'd be able to keep up those vocals for maybe 3 seconds haha. You guys sound really tight with your instruments.
Michael Knubben aw dang, I'll re-upload it when I finish it, just being silly doing a mashup of Less Than and Space Jam. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time removing Trent's vocals so I might have to record my own instrumental version of Less Than in order to do the mash up.
Here's something else though, I took a proceduraly generated midi, massaged it a bit and gave it some nice instruments.
I love making beats, and am somewhat of a gear obsessive when it comes
to hardware. I haven't tried any orchestral/sound design stuff but it's
on the list of things I want to do.
Just messing with sampling a lot at the moment, deciding whether to buy an MPC or Maschine.
Here's the video that got a copyright claim against it. I'm on a quest to mix Space Jam & Less Than. I've sequenced the synths and guitars myself this time, I still need to record a live bass & guitar over it.
@Justin Meisse Nice, I really need to go back and watch this movie. I have a lingering fear that I'll die before I remember to sit down and watch it haha
I wanted to make some psychedelic house, so I came up with this bad boy.
Before i was in 3D I was trying to be a game composer. That was actually the path that led me here. This was supposed to be the opening theme for a side running Ninja game.
put a quick patch together on the eurorack. Its pretty raw. Put a bunch of sketches (old and new) in so you have something to look at. Patch notes in description if you're interested.
Hi everyone, I create Ambient/Dungeon Synth music by the name of Duvet Du Diable. Listen and tell me what you think. https://duvetdudiable.bandcamp.com/

Here's my current wip, when you come up with a cool loop but still need to make an entire song out of it
WIP Chillstep track:
Another WIP Chillstep track:
And a WIP Trap track (high frequencies seem to have suffered a bit from MP3 compression):

@Justin Meisse That moody-music is dope, I get some cop-mystery cyberpunk-vibe from it.
