Back to Los Santos eh. Would have been nice if the gaming media hadn't spoiled that surprise, the jerks.
I was kind of expecting a fancier presentation, but I guess a quick look over the new environments and some vague hints about the new characters is all one really needs. I wonder if the rumours of multiple player characters are true. The camera does seem to focus on a number of different characters in the trailer.
It certainly seems like a very faithful recreation of LA and Southern California. Part of me wishes they'd been brave enough to set it in another country, but I'm sure it'll be great!
It's definitely more of the same in terms of visuals and gameplay - but that's what makes the sales
I like how much effort they put into the graphic design (brands, textures, signage); it really helps to disguise their lower quality environments as well as making the environments feel a bit more believable. That's what sets it apart from other games for me
Geez, GTA is one of my favorite series, I'm so hyped for this! I loved everything in the trailer so far, it looks so much better and varied than GTA IV. I wish they could cram in San Fierro and Las Venturas in there but I guess that would be asking a bit too much.
GTA IV is in my Top 5 favourite games of all time. RDR is up there to. The reason is, my mind role plays when I play these games. There's something about R* ability to deliver a narrative that I cannot help myself to get in their world and play around. When I played GTA IV, while I played it, I was Niko. I was this immigrant to Liberty City who had a doofus cousin and constantly got in to trouble while trying to make my life right. Loading the game up, running down the stairs and pushing the door open to the busy streets of the city gave me a feeling of immersion not a lot of games have given me.
Trailer looked great, cant wait. Always a big GTA fan and as always R* puts so much love and life into there worlds.
I hope the Water Garden in Santa Monica makes its way into the game so I can go to work in a video game and blow up some tanks from the roof of our office haha
The lighting looks awesome, they really captured that LA hazy look with not just having distance fog but actually looks like atmosphere/smog. the environments look pretty photoreal, the characters break the illusion a bit but their animation looks really fluid.
That shot of the wind farm looks great. One of the many things I loved about San Andreas was the fact that it wasn't always just city environments, the contrast between scenery was great, going from some ghetto so a woodland to a freakin desert.

Needless to say, I can't fucking wait for GTA V.
Gotta say I agree, but I'm also a little worried. While the storyline was neat in 4, playing not as a criminal, but someone who was 'dragged back into' being a criminal made it odd to do bad things. With the previous ones, you had this feeling of "this is something this person would do", but with Niko it was always "but... he's trying to be a good guy, this doesn't make sense".. always put this wierd sense of "you're doing it wrong" on any kind of violent thing (mission based or otherwise). I dunno, maybe reading into the character too much, but isn't that what the whole thing's about?
That aside, the teaser trailer looks incredible, and I'm really looking forward to romping around in good ol' Cali in a GTA game. Since this is likely their second GTA iteration with the nextgen engine, I'm hoping both character and vehicle customization (like SA) are back, and really really really hoping they have a Harrier in this one!
Also... Bigfoot anyone? (Both the truck, and the critter).
The first time I watched the trailer I wasn't really paying attention to what was been said and it left me a little bored and uninspired. But once I watched it again and comprehended what he said it left me a little more up beat.
To me it sounds like your a bad person who has come to the city to start a normal life, but your life falls apart leaving you without a house and on the streets where you have to build yourself up again. Images like house for closure and street poverty in contrast to the golf ranges and luxury houses. Then again, this is pretty much the same story as ever other GTA so no surprise really.
Generally speaking Rockstar have never failed to make a great game so I have every bit of confidence it will be amazing.

San Andreas (well, maybe just part of it)! Was that CJ I saw too?
Man oh man, it looks like they GTA4'ified San Andreas which to me, stands to be gaming perfection.

Totally, except it's San Andreas that's tempting me. Played it on the PS2 and never got to play the PC version I got on Steam...
