not sure about all these 1 post wonders should be whitelisted... weve got quite alot of cool stuff being made on the server...
speaking of which cant wait for my mac to get back from the reapairs...256 height limit woot!
I actually realized that might happen. I don't mean to be a "1 post wonder" though. I mostly have been lurking the forums for a time, mainly for school purposes, learning things where I can. I made the account as one of my instructors wants us to compete in the Darksiders II contest, which I'm currently in the concepting stage of. Once I have said instructor critique that, I will be posting that up where appropriate.
So no, I'm not a "1 post wonder." I am, however, new and was just hoping to have a friendly community to play Minecraft with. A few of my colleagues and classmates play on the server occasionally. Though I don't have much spare time these days anyway, so I'd only be playing a couple times a month. Once a week at the very best.
I do understand your apprehension though, and if I'm unwanted on the whitelist at this time, that's fine. I simply posted without an this explanation in the first place one of my aforementioned colleagues said "go ahead, worse they can do is say no."
Uncle: You are still in there as are the friends you asked for. Try again. I rarely take anyone out of there unless they have been bad. But when they've been bad they also lose their polycount account too. We've dropped that ban hammer before.
Almeck: How about a custom avatar? It's like wearing a tie at a corporation. everyone has one and they are all unique. plus when you dont have one is stands out.
cheers... dig well.
BTW for the newbs: we do have the map I posted above that will help you get around and stake out your own spot. plenty of space out there to call your own. If you find the trap door, its not hidden, near the world spawn, it will take you out to my own mooshroom island.
Btw i was going to say, in regards to starting a new map, I think it would be cool to just change the spawn location when it becomes a trek to find a spot with enough resources surrounding it. It would also be cool to be roaming and find all the previous stuff people have made.
every 3 minutes or so my hunger bar drops down to zero (even if it was fully filled before that)
i dont have anything to eat anymore, i'll die 20 seconds after the next login and i will loose my precious diamond armor and stuff...
anybody heard if this is a officially bug or anything?

I'll probably be making one here soon. Back in my old forum going days I had one, but it no longer suits me.
Went on last night. Hunger went to 0 and dropped 5 hearts pretty much off the bat. Stayed that way. Couldn't find food anywhere! But some of the creations in there is just crazy. I'll jump back in.
Yeah, can't get in. Sometimes only one of the three aliases will connect, so I have all three mapped. But I think our clients are more up-to-date than the server.

For your health issues, I put some goodies in the chest at the top of the mushroom tower, hanging off the tree.
I added a hospital in town, with tons of food. Help yourself. Should help the poor & hungry.
About the diamonds, I guess that depends where they are. Community chests are marked as such, so they're free for the taking. In someone's house though, I'd say not.
oh.. well... i think i stole some of yours then
the mushroom tree is your's isnt it? i thought the chest way up on the top was meant to be explored? (the one labeled with "dont look down" (i did, and it was a little scary, i must admit^^)
i found the hospital, but couldnt find a way in? i had no lever with me, so i wasnt able to open the iron doors.
also, tested the hunger stuff yesterday, seems fine again, thanks for the reboot!
Me and Cheese have been looking at the machinery that runs this place and looking for ways to optimize. The minecraft server is a hunk of metal that could use some tweeking.
At the same time we stumbled across Minefold, a web based Minecraft server hosting option. It looks to be way cheaper than us doing it ourselves [80-90% savings] and yet it looks to retain most/all of the features we've actually used... except for those giants perhaps..
Anyways, I'm current uploading a copy of the world we're currently inhabiting to see how it goes. My goal is to still offer a gated polycount community server for all to play in, so either way you will have a place to play.
i tried to get in an mess around last nite, first time playing mcraft in a while, and first time ever since i wiped and reinstalled my machine. singleplayer works fine, but if i go into a server it seems fine for a couple minutes then it starts freezing for a few seconds at a time freeze unfreeze freeze unfreese. its unplayable. norton pops up an tells me java is using 100% of one of my proccessors. its a i7 intel. any one have any thoughts how to fix this?
Rhinokey, I have the exact same problem. Like you said, it's unplayable. Have you maybe tried updating java runtime? It worked for some friends of mine, but for me it didn't change a thing.
Sounds to me like you need to allow Java to use more memory.
Java by default has a hard coded limit on what it can use. This is good reasons for thos, but in the case of minecraft, it can not be enough, especially when you are playing on a map as large as the polycount world. This is why the SP works fine, but you are not having a good time on the server.

are cobblestone generators allowed?
the design i'm working on uses two pistons and one clock, but the clock is only active when the machine is both switched on and the output lane is full of unmined cobblestone, so it shouldn't be too harsh on the server's cpu.

Mistava I like your work. You should post it in P&P!

Thanks for the welcome and the whitelist though!
morph: i just rebooted the server, see if that helps.
There is also a new build available, but the servers are swamped, so soon as i can i'll do another update.
Also, what are the criteria to build a small house for "living" here?

Rebooted the server and jumped on there myself.
Seems 'ok' Let me know. cheers.
Purrrrfect. Works OK for me (except for my natural lag, my provider's fault)!
Rapid question, where can I mine and build an house just to survive?
EDIT: wow, there are lots of open chests with diamond items in it! Don't tell me they are freely pickable? O_o

also, cool tree house! u got a nice view there...
Joker's a real life friend, i'm sure he can vouch for me.
Thanks.
I can indeed.
I'd be cool with a reset.
there's a few things counting against it

how did they appear? obviously noone ever walked there
Nether portal.
added sheckee
the map is broken for now... waiting on an update
what's the policy on creeper explosions? they used to do damage to just the player, but they seem to have reverted to world damage, too.
[edit]: oh, you mean the web-map? yeah, that's broken.
jeb really needs to get on that easier-modding-api thing they've been talking about for years.

sweet that along with the fact that it auto installed the 32 bit java instead of the 64 seemed to be my problem
