So, I'm finally getting around to playing through this. I never played Demon's Souls.
So far, I've restarted 3 times. I'm not sure if I'm enjoying myself or not. Yeah, it's difficult... frustratingly so, at times. My initial impression, though, is that it's unfinished. They do a good job with informing the player how the control work, but nothing else. The combat is very animation timing dependent.
Maybe I'm coddled by modern gameplay, but as of now it seems like the game's flaws are hidden behind the guise of "old school gameplay". I'll certainly be giving it more time. With all the hype surrounding this, I was hoping for something that felt a bit more polished.
Playing and finishing Demon's souls would remove the thought of Dark Souls being unfinished, Since nothing really was changed in Dark Souls from Demons Souls except for exploration.
In both games your thrown out in the world to suffer learning the ropes on your own
If I were a lesser man, I would erase my initial distaste with Dark Souls in my previous post. I will, instead, own up to it and correct myself.
Dark Souls is awesome. Plain and simple. I haven't felt this much intensity and suspense in a game in a very long time. Once you get past the initial "lolwtfamidoing?" moment, the game truly shines. I'm hooked, I love it, I have an itch to take a few days off just to get sucked into it more.
Whats awesome about the Soul series is..the intense feeling of dread you feel while playing. And how coy it is with it! Where as let's say... Dead Space..the fear and scares seem kind of translucent and forced... in The Souls games, the game is just naturally scary..without trying to be scary. It's pretty amazing!
Not only did they make the game ridiculously hard, but they also decided to go with a service that features incomprehensible user interface and which randomly deletes your saves. Hows that for hardcore? :poly142:
GFWL is the worst service I've ever had to go through that involves gaming. It's so mind boggling awful. I bought bulletstorm, but GFWL wants me damn credit card to verify I am over 18 to play the damn game?
The one time when I decide to get any title for a console (playing with my friends console since I do not own one) because I thought the game isn't coming for PC and then it comes out for PC ._. what am I being punished for?
I just started playing Dark Souls about 2 weeks ago, actually, absolutely love it.... until Anor Londo. Once you get there it's just run, run, run, run, ruuuuuuun, fight one enemy, run, run, run, run. Ruined me wanting to play through again.
I love that it's very strict kill or be killed type of game... you have to play very smart. I'd like to see this game explore multiplayer more, and adjust its later level design to emulate earlier parts of the game more.

Put on my heavy armour and used iron flesh then just burned them down 2 handed, estus flask when necessary and refreshed iron flesh between them.
That goddamn dog though.....and yeah, Ornstein and Smough pissed me off too.
