ScudzAlmighty, really liking the look of that character so far.
This is what I've been working on lately, some lo-poly props with a cartoon theme to it, all textures are done by hand with basic photoshop brushes and the total tris count is 1153.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems the poly count is for the DS, while the texture res is for the PSP, if you know what I mean. The textures are fantastic I think, but they look like they're in a higher 'budget bracket' than the mesh.
Also, I don't have any idea whether the arms bend smoothly or it bends in sections with the mesh.
yeah true i forgot to downscale the texture size. it's suppost to be for iPhone spec.
Actually IMHO with higher hardware requirements the subscriber base would shorten considerably if anything.
No no I totally agree with that, but if you could have those graphics with the typical hardwear that most WoW players use I think it'd grow exponentially.
but thats not possible and this is why WoW looks how it looks, they have so many awesome artists in their team and it looks great even with the hardcore limits, i doubt it isn't possible for them to make it look better or lets call it current gen, its just that the userbase dictates the overall technical constraints.
An update to my Sci-fi scene. Gonna get a basic material setup done for the pipes so I can change the colour of them individually. Tinkering with post processing atm, and I have a lot more modular assets to make.
Sounds good Glynnsmith. However, the drum fills seem really out of place to me!
The toms are crappy, yeah I need to use electronic drum samples. And I need 4, rather than 3, to pull off the big fill in the middle of the last chorus :P
Looking pimp, PogoP! Love the colors the most so far. And the forms are very simple.
Wrote another song within the hour. I don't know how to use the mixer, or EQ. That's lessons to come.
And Cubase is amazing!
Thanks! I'm trying to get away from the grungey, over-detailed sci-fi feel that so many games seem to go for nowadays. It's sorta inspired by Thiago Klafke's apartment scene.
I'll check out that tune later, the girlfriend is currently hogging my speaks/secondary monitor. Damnit, this truly is a woman's world.
Looks like a good fish plate, as far as fish plates go! But 1024 is overkill for such a small prop (presuming it is a small prop). If it was going in a game, 256 would probably be big enough for this. Maybe a 512.
It looks good, but as it was said, the texture sizes are very large for this type of thing. But I know you want to make it look nice, so why not.
But in a game, I would say this would only get a 128 map, 256 if you were very lucky. But it also depends if its for a cinematic, what game, on console/pc, ect.
I think 1024 is fine for the fish plate. Especially for a portfolio piece. I can see that being like an artifact or something in a Drake's game or a Resident Evil. One that you can zoom in, rotate around etc.
Love that painting Dado, Reads from top to bottom really well (why does that goblin have a sword? Ohh wait why does that guy have a stick of dyna- ohhhhhhhhhh)
Haven't done a makeup layer for this yet, so it looks kinda rough.
ups with clothes and some more work on the face. still not quite there though. Hes got a pretty round/chubby face and its hard to resist the usual muscle/anatomy shapes
Finished my reel. yay
Its more a commercial showreel than anything else, just wanted to show you guys. Ive populated it more with some of my personal models that I did in my free time.
Well, your specular seems automatically generated or something, doesn't seem to make much sense. Give some though about how your materials should react to light and paint your maps accordingly. This article should shed some light on this:
Here's another update to the sci-fi corridor I'm working on.
Really liking the attention you're putting into the ceiling props. Would love to see some of the pipes splitting off, with right angled curves travelling perpendicularly to the length of the corridor, or the odd t-junction thrown in, just to mix up the lines a bit.

Cheers and keep up the good work people!
here is the female draenei I started last year, hope you like it! The character is around 23k tri, body has 2k maps, the weapons have 1k maps.
Comments and crits are welcome!

tottarie- nice take on a more realistic style for the draenai
For part of a retro-styled, sidescrolling collect-em-up:

If all of wow looked this good I think they'd have triple the subscriber base
Recently popular gun mp7 ;p. New uv tools in max 2012 are cool ... but this lag almost made me threw computer out the window -_-'

Edges are too sharp in places. Meh, oh well.

I took a second glance and realized how epic that is. Very impressive work! Post more progress, I want to see this thing finished!
I know this isn't a music forum, but I'm really enjoying it. I made a remix, name the tune!!!

Nice Phaser.
Probably not since if all WoW looked like that and had those specs then less then 1/3 would probably be able to run the game
Beautiful model though
Made another face, rendered in zbrush:

@PogoP - I really like that hallway, it's got some personality!
I wrapped this up today, thanks for the feedback! Now back to work on my plague doctor.
