Ha! This place is amazing. I'm sick for a couple days, hop back online today, take a look around and realize how out of the loop I am. So much goodness being cranked out.
As for me, here's an update from my current WIP thread..
And with that, I'll be surfing the P&P for the next several hours trying to catch back up.
thanks Duncan! you are one of my favorite character artists as well. i loved all the work you've been posting in this thread and am also looking forward to seeing your DWV posts!
ps... NO LENSE FLARE. ;P
comment and crits are welcome again , i want to make him more realistic
looking good! love it, remind me young Pete Postlethwaite (RIP) I think you can tweak some shape to bring it more realistic, like maybe rebuild near the zigomatic bone on the side, the gobale shape of the mouth, the shape of the "down lips " more like a "W", the mouth corner look too smooth, the nasal bone maybe a bit too deep between the eyes, and the mouth a bit too high, it's only suggestion but here the firt thing I see first...
good ref btw : http://laternamagika.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/au-nom-du-pere-1993-02-g.jpg
Thanks bbob.
And thank you viv. I actually hope to experiment with him in a program called messiah. I have tried my hand at rigging in Maya and hate it. Too many scripts. Check out messiah here. http://www.projectmessiah.com/x6/index.html
a good friend Arkadius told me about it. i was able to get the pro edition for 40 bucks
Also. spectacular render.such a fricken beautiful boddddzz. punk girlz do it better
Wow, so much work gets posted in here recently! I posted up something on the last page, and already a whole page has swallowed it up! Nice work everyone, everyone's stuff is so inspiring.
i guess some painted on eyebrows, eyelashes and some darker lips would do a big deal selling her as a female - but anyways lovely, besides i think the ear looks somewhat improvised, do you use a specific ref for it? there are really some odd parts on it, but if i leanred anything from the last years as character artist, with human heads nothing is impossible and anatomybooks are not always right
Terrabite: she is beautiful, is this from a plane?
Firstkeeper, beautiful work love the colors you have in that last blade, something i personally struggle with from time to time is getting the nice blues and greens in there that youve achieved.
Toddiej: great stuff man! love the double moons and the particulate work in the atmosphere.
Thats one sweet Prawn [SF]Three9. I've seen a few around, but your's has got some character to him. Not sure what makes it though, maybe its the wider eyes? Any plans to add "clothing" to them?
Done in UDK. Calling this done for now. Going to move on to something else. I may come back to it in the future.
Take the dots out of the rocks and youd have a killer piece. Right now, to me at least, they are only adding noice. To that, the textures on it dont actualy look like rocks.
Hey polycounters,
I am a recent immigrant to this forum from 4chan's /3/ board - the step up in quality is mind blowing and I hope being surrounded by such greatness will inspire and motivate me
I'm working on a character (my first) and would appreciate some general feedback on the design, proportions, and so on before I begin sculpting
this concept was a paintover of the Joan of Arc reference by the way
hey thanks scrawld, I'm not really sure, it could be lol. Everytime I look at his face I think of that poor one that got blown up by the gun in the lab, so maybe it is the eyes. I made the low poly version over a year ago, and I spent TONS of hours researching the mouth and trying to figure out how it works. I don't think it's 100% exact, but I know it's really fucking close.
I do plan to add clothes, just not yet. Trying to get my portfolio ready by thursday, so once my artwork sprint is done, I'll go back and do that . Maybe make a few variations or something, we'll see
thanks felipefrango. i frequent your blog. just regurgitating the inspiration i recieve from you and others here at polycount
and thanks crazyfool! todiej- i absolutely LOVE that environment design. hell fucking yes!
welcome benji
viva la 4chan
models lookin pretty clean and very close to the concept.
i can only suggest at this point that you practice your 2d skills. it will help your 3d immensely

Other then that, beautiful lighting dude!
I agree, you art style is awesome just remove or re-work the spots.
I'll try and get a break down up. I lost some stuff in a recent re-format. Mostly some Max stuff. I was using some autoback files since Max likes to crash.

One of the scenes I'm working on for graduation portfolio assignment. Polycount feedback has been helping me push the quality more and more.

New basemesh... why does it look so unfeminine and weird?? Face extremely WIP.
and i think you need a little more thickness from the outer upper thighs.
