I've heard this baby sold 2 millions in a day. WOW.
Well done.
Totally deserved The campaign was great and the Collector's Edition is one of the coolest I've ever seen. Packed with stuff, for only 20 more euros compared to the regular edition. Totally worth every cent.
I thought Mercs was pointless, but after losing for a few hours on the final mission, I realize their importance. Makes things more livable along side massed units. I went with mass ground with some air support.
yep that, and if you want it to follow the streams more exactly, you need to have seperate pieces of mesh that uv-mapped in a way that it follows the scrolling, that way you can control the speed of the flow, and the direction, simply by the uv-map.
Got my copy but shamefully still haven't played Brood Wars, loved the original so I think I should get it and play thru before diving into SC2...
Same here. Even after all this time, it's still a great game. Been playing on and off for a few days, just about finished with the Terran campaign - I'm forcing myself not to rush through it to get to SC2.
There's lots of questions, did you play the protoss missions?
Aye, I have...and all of a suddon it was this. Werent they suppose to fix the protoss problems first and than go for queen of blades? The content was completely ignored right in the middle of the storyline.
Unless they intend to do that hybred Protoss part in some other expension, I dont see Starcraft happening anymore.
The Xel Naga are coming to destroy everything, that's the background story, its what the protoss and kerrigan were trying to find out about during the campaign.
I still havent beat it. 5 more missions to go.. but im wondering if our decisions made in this campaign will go on and continue with us in the next 2 installments... that would be cool. since its all over bnet. it saves yor progress and shit
Was watching the making of, they talked about the cinematics tools in one part of it, and about how they were curious about what machinima peoople would do with it, so hopefully it'll be released in the near future.
I think he's mainly wondering about the human characters, the cinematic ones in between
Still cool stuff though.
Yes, that's right. Sorry, I forgot to tell you guys
There are some close-ups on the characters' faces and the textures look really great. I couldn't really tell if they've used photos or not but the end-result was very good. I read somewhere that the blizzard cinematic artists took care of the cinematic non-pre-rendered characters so perhaps they use different methods than the game artists?
ZacD: I've already checked the making-of parts for the cinematic and art.
just beat it. friggin FANTASTIC game. loved it. loved the ending cause now its like oh shit. what are we gonna do now!? i think it will be wonderful! cant fucking wait!
yeah loving the cinematics and the missions are great too. never placed SC1, but getting into the multiplayer of SC2 a fair bit now, although I still prefer WC3 with the hero units and less intense base management
i can see myself buying the zerg and protoss campaigns aswell just to see more cutscenes haha. reckon they'll be the same price? i'm wondering if they'll do something lame like release new units for multiplayer so you'll be forced to buy the new releases to compete
I bet it'll be only 40 for the expansion, which should be out in a year.
I'm sure they'll add new units too, so there will be separate communities, I'm just curious if you can skip the 2nd game and just get the 3rd.
They said that multiplayer will not be affected by what game you have, so IF there is any new multiplayer units, everyone will get them even though you dont buy an expansion for example.
Only immersion breaker was that matte painting when the doctor you pick up gets of your plane. Everything else in the game is super polished but that one piece. Had to go lie down for a while.

I have two guest passes for the first two people who write me a haiku about starcraft. :P
you have a guest pass
I've never played starcraft
but id whoop your ass
well u just made me do that for 5 min instead of going to sleep. haikus are difficult.
Question:
Do you guys create your ground/air units or just summon the hired ones.
hope I'm making any sense here.
If anyone still wants a guest pass, i have 2 left, just pm me.

I know blizzard is known to hand paint, but i'm not sure myself.
but then again, there are uses for photo overlays even in handpainted stuff.
edit:
found an image showing an unshaded hydralisk:

probably not, in world of warcraft you need every expansion prior to be able to install the latest.
first rts i have finished in forever, fantastic stuff
now to learn the zerg !
