And in the end, aren't all copies basicly keys to blizzards own digital system?, you have to have or register for a battlenet account to play the game no?
Yup. You don't need a cd in to play right? I downloaded their client and will be sent my key later. Seeing as how it's the digital version i downloaded it should be fine... i hope.
To bad I have to play it on my crappy laptop (it runs it, just not at superhigh). Oh well. Just an excuse to play it again when i get to my real comp
Collectors Edition just arrived... all I have is two words.
Wow....
and....
WOW.
Artbook is big, hardback and full of incredible awesomeness. Haven't watched the DVD yet, comic comes in a little slipcase wrapper and isn't just the 'leaflet' I was expecting. And the USB drive with SC and Broodwar on is METAL... SOLID METAL! AND IT GLOWS ORANGE AND BLUE!
And the USB drive with SC and Broodwar on is METAL... SOLID METAL!
And plastic... When I turned it around and looked at the back, I thought "wtf, fail!"
Surely they coulda thought of a better way to push the usb bit out!
He, It's me aggain with anoter question.
I am just installing SC2 and trying to activate the game for my Battlenet accout. I tried loggin in with all my brothers old "Warcraft 3 Battle Net" accounts and none works.
These old accounts were created inside Warcraft 3, when entering the Battlenet from inside the game.
So now it appears to me that this old "Battlenet accounts" are not realy Battlenet accounts. (I can't remember that I was asked to give a E-Mail adress when creating the old Battlenet accounts, just ID & PW)
Anyone could help? This is all that prevents me from playign it right now :S
I got my CE yesterday and it's really nice. But a lot artworks of the artbook was known from the blizzard website and there is not so much useful text in it (like in the warcraft 3 artbook). Didn't looked at the comic/DVD but i would say: if you not that enthusiastic about scifi/artbooks/real time strategy, you don't need the CE that much.
Ok guys, here's a question for you. Best Buy's website claimed I can get one of the race shirts, but this store only had Terran and Zerg. No Protoss. And I play Protoss. And I went there in the morning to get a Protoss shirt.
Is it worth complaining to anyone and try to get an exchange? Or are they not gonna do it? Here:

Haha shhhhhh! I know what you mean. Let's pretend that bit is metal too.
@VCool, sucks that they had no Protoss left but I guess their ad says 'While supplies last' which probably means you're outta luck.
Sure thing Wahlgren, I need some SC2 buds. I must warn you, I've never played a single multiplayer match, I didn't get into the Beta and I'm just playing single player right now.
Feel free to add me (same goes for anyone on EU servers)
Almost the entire art team and programming team did a mass nerd convoy to EB games this morning to pick it up. I am a noob at this game but add me for some hot SC2 action canadian.shaun@gmail.com Maybe we can get some studio vs studio action going on as well.
It was a late night. But I stopped by the local Best Buy, and successfully snagged me a copy of the Collectors Edition. It was pricey, but I'm still working at the moment, so I can afford it. Of course, I'm actually working right now, instead of playing it. Oh well, I will get some time tonight to install it and try it out.
The Collectors Edition is pretty sweet. The art book is hard-back, and kicks serious ass. The comic book has great production values, but I'm not a fan of the artist they hired for it. The dog-tag USB drive has a genuine metal shell, and is very cool. Parts of it are plastic, but mainly just the areas that light up when you plug it in. I won't get a chance to watch the behind-the-scenes DVD for a little while, so no comment yet. Probably slap the soundtrack into my computer a little later and listen to it while I work.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the CE. It lives up to the CE standards set by previous Blizzard releases. It's even better than the Warcraft III CE I bought so long ago.
The price for this game is insane, extremely expensive :S
Digital version = 60 euro? WTF!!! i was expecting to get a cheaper digital copy!
Standard dvd box = 49 euro in play.com
Collector's edition = 98 euro in play.com
In our shops, quite more expensive. The first SC was 30 euro for the first day ¬¬ and for a RTS game like this... i think i will wait some time.
If they plan to sell each part of the trilogy per 60 euro... we are fucked if we want to play the game on its firsts days. If 45 euros is abusive, 60... pfff
BTW, music is not as good as in Starcraft 1. Cinematics must be very expensive lol.
Hey can someone clarify this for me? If I am going away for a while and wanting to play it on my laptop, can I do it? With Steam I can just download any game however many times I want. Is it any different with bnet?

Yep, I just did exactly that. Installed it on my desktop this afternoon, and then on my laptop this evening.
Once it's registered on your B.Net you should be able to download the client anytime you like, or use your original DVD.
Another very nice feature is that it automatically syncs career progression. I did a couple of campaign missions earlier on my PC then logged in on my Mac this evening and could pick up where I left off.
woooot! wasnt planning on getting this for quite some time. saving money. but my bro just cruised on in to walmart today on his way to work and scored 2 collectors editions. im only paying half for mine. hes paying the other half for my bday on friday! ahaha. sweeeet
Beat the single player, I did 2 missions on brutal, then I got tired of it, did 3 in hard, then did the rest in casual cause I wanted to see the cinematics, there was a 2nd song after the credits that was pretty funny that I'm trying to find.
Singleplayer starts slow it seems but fuck if i care. I'm in love with the starcraft universe.
It pains me that i can't run it on highest though... but hey. Maybe i got my real comp after the first playthrough and can replay it on hard so i can get the rest of the achievements
I've noticed that the performance gets worse over time when i play. And i don't mean because of the amount of units. It can be in the startup phase of a level and it starts crawling.
Sucks that you can't add people through the web interface, also sucks that thewinterlord added me yesterday and wrote me while playing... but i couldn't add himf rom the game... and he wasn't in my list afterwards.
They should make it possible for me to add people that adds me or something IN GAME... so I don't have to go out and type in their info.
Since when did they start charging 35 quid for pc games? Looking at the rest of the game chart they are £5-10 cheaper, the whole Modern Warfare 2 pricing coming back eh ... gouging ******'s
I got a friend code, going to play it before I even think of shelling out that much for a game.

Sheep would remain blissfully indifferent, of course.

I was the first at the cashier when the store opened. The guy told me they only had Zerg and Terran. I was dissapoint.
Success!

I'm tying up a few loose ends on WoW before I put it to bed before Cataclysm but either way I'll be on B.Net.
