Well there are very selective people who got the keys today to play SC2. I am pretty sure like me there are others who have signed up for Opt-in beta for both SC2 and D3. Unfortuantely I didnt get invited...so might as well wait for the actual game to come out.
Damn it I need friends / polycounters to get the beta! None of my friends got in. Playing against random people...ah well.
StarCraft 2 is amazing. It is super responsive and very smooth. The animated character portraits are incredible (the overlord licks your screen. haha).
There were only ~1500 players on SCII last night while I was playing. I'm willing to bet they are still sending out keys in waves. So someone get in!
That 3 gig thing is wrong. Installer is only 1.6gigs. Game installed is only 2 gigs...for now. You have to keep in mind you download the maps on bnet before you play them.
downloading the beta only took about 15mins, and it was so small I could put it on my 3 gig thumb drive and install at home.
The part of opt in signup agreement on Battle.NET is, you must have atleast one blizzard game attached to it. World of warcraft is not one of them

I dont think so. I was playing with someone last night who never played Star Craft 1.
I have the client installed and tried to log in lol, I thought i got all the way through but right as I was at the gates it said 'ACCOUNT NOT FLAGGED FOR SC2'

I created a new Battle.net account, but I'm unable to opt in. Why?
In order for a Battle.net account to be able to opt in to upcoming beta tests, you must have at least one Blizzard Entertainment game attached to the account. Please note that the World of Warcraft TRIAL edition does not count toward this requirement.

Know one thing about "believing people," is that no one is a guru who knows everything. You should have a second opinion regarding it.
I can't believe they are calling this a beta. Its so polished, it makes every RTS released in the past 3 years feel like beta. Seriously this and uncharted 2 have set a new bar for polished / complete. Well done blizz, well done.

Too lazy to find it, but I'm 99% sure I read that they will be sending out more keys in waves. They will want to gradually increase the load on their servers, probably trying to avoid the server chaos WoW had during beta and launch.
Also, to any bliz employees... you should get me into the beta. I was a professional in-house game tester before I worked as an artist... I'm really extremely good at it. You'd be doing blizzard a favor, really. In fact, you should pay me to test the game. I await your email and paycheck.

Didnt get a beta key myself, but had the pleasure of playing it over at a friends house. Gotta say it's very awesome althou I do have some minor problems thats annoying me.
First of all, playing as or against a zerg can only be descriptive as a visual clusterfuck.. I really think the zerg units needs more different colors.. In battle I cant see the difference between a hydralisk, a roach or a zergling, but maybe thats just a matter of getting used to the new units.
Also terran has a way more powerfull early game with the reapers... I get raped by them so often it's annoying :<
Yeah pros will hardy look at the color of theyr troops.
Have a look at some sc1 videos they press 20 macros a second or something like that ^^. For me the fun will come from the singleplayer as im pretty bad at multitasking timing strategy games:D
Rumor has it there are ~5000 beta accounts. ~2000 of those are Blizz folks. So ~3000 keys where sent out? The most people I have seen playing on the beta one night was like 3500 I believe, with ~1000 games being played.
On a side note. Most of the people playing seem really good, or I'm REALLY bad. I lost like 10 2v2 games in a row last night...sigh.
