More tinkering with this ... still trying to lighten it up and have it work better as a whole - all opinions muchos helpful
Hi Jackwhat,
you could add the small silhouette of a man/hero entering the cave into the backlit entrance. That would be the primary focus of the picture and then after a while one would slowly recognize the monster lurking down there. That way you could turn the current problems with readability into something that supports the image without having to change a lot.
What soft do you use to have this render ? is it hand painting ? Illustrator ? I really like how the lines are done, and the grain !
It's all done in Photoshop with a standard hard round brush with pen sensitivity for thickness. Stippling is all done by hand, all I do is just take the brush size down(I work on a file size of 5000x5000 pixels at 300DPI, so my standard brush size for lines is ~25-35, so I take my brush down to ~9-10px to do my stipple) just lightly pressing and adjusting the density of the area I stipple depending on where I think shadows and dark spots should be.
Just still fiddling with some busts. Did this guy over the last 2-3 evenings.
Textures are photo sourced, sculpt is from scratch(no refs).
I'm shooting for something stylistically similar to the Mass Effect series. 1024 textures (diffuse, normal, spec) and nearly 3k tris for just the head.
**Thanks and credit again to Cman2k for the eyeballs+shader which I'm using here.
Strong critiques or comments always welcome!
I'm aware that the pores are a bit jacked. They will be corrected.
pretty much gave up on this since it just crashes now and lost interest completely.
wrinkles are weak in most places too i think and the ripped parts could probably be better.
I can of course just post here right?
no qualifications?
My Take on Splinter Cell (wireframe only for now)
He is going to have a hard time hiding anywhere with arms of that magnitude(note:not meant to be realistic but instead a bit stylised(is that the right definition of the word?))
crits are accepted as long as they're not about his massive arms or the stubbiness of his legs
I was going to post an update, thinking I was actually building something worthwhile but I'll just keep drooling at this now...This is bloody epic mate, amazing job. I always love timelapses, any chance you could make a lil' gif showing your steps from start to finish?
I could post some gif with my iterative save psd's, but that wouldn't help you much since it's an overpaint (NSFW) of Iga Wyrwal, I thought I should clarify that.

I thought she looked familiar!;) Should have seen that lol. Would still be really awesome to see a gif with the untransformed image leading up to the final pic, even though it's not an original:)
@BeatKitano
irony only fo you;
-hell where did you get such a big wank picture?
and normal mode what I would normaly say and do now;
where is the light source for the strong light underneath the boobs?
why is there a strong light source between her legs? o0 (where does the lights come from?)
light gets on top of the lips so a light source is in front of her some meters above...
and her upper body shoud get some more light. and her arms.
make the belly a bit darker.
the light source on the right side of her head isn´t working switch the sides of the face and it would fit better with the used light brightness.
why is there a bubble or a little blain on the left of her mouth?
It looks good if you just watch over it the first time but if you try to check the light sources it gets a bit wrong.
@WOLFREIM
wow that looks angry.
only the paint over with the color grey on the right shoulder doesn´t fit yet.
@beat,, Besides just where the light comes from, it shows what kind of shape you are dealing with and what the property is. The highlight above the lip makes it look like the lip grows over into the nose, making a curve and no sharp edge. And it also looks like she licked it because it's really shiney.
Also watch out for using lines, drawing realistic means it are planes connecting.

On my to do list is light mapping, add the artificial lighting, glass, vegetation, and something to go in the middle to provide some focus.
Does anyone know how to get object space normals working in UDK?

a character i work right now, just to have something "real" in the portfolio.
lowpoly with a 2k normalmap rendered in the cryengine.
blits, looking real good, but hard to properly appreciate with that lighting.
heres something im trying to get myself to finish...
face needs finishing, then fine detail + gear + textures!
Update time:)
I would love some crits on this, only recently started sculpting/learning anatomy so any help would be golden. Lips look the most off to me.

Gonna throw it in mudbox for the seams and little bumps on the sides - still not sure how much further detail I want to put on the motor.

Asari dancers (NSFW)
It's actually underneath but yeah, @Beat, you forgot to define a couple of other parts of the suit, it does look a bit weird now thinking about it.
