Ok ok, enough with me crowding the pages with my banter. I am calling this done(the border and stuff is just for show, it won't be with the final design...just didn't want the background being so boring )
My friends have been happy with it, so it should be nice. I get a free night of drinking and a first print shirt when they run them, so should be cool. -.-
you think the text might be a bit tiny and intricate? imo size it up and make the line widths consistent.
I dunno what the standards are but I wouldn't sign it. I mean, you'll be credited in the jacket
BTW rollin that's fucking amazing, you're a true boy

Hence why I said the border and all that jazz was only for show, and won't be on the print. It's a standard frame I have saved out(with the signature on it). I have another similar frame with a stamp logo of mine as well. The only thing that gets sent to the printer on this is the girl and the typo.
As for the type, it's really the style of music that determined that. It's the font the band wanted to use, was pretty much out of my hands.
cool work shotgun, what are you using for projection painting?
here's a flying monkey i did for the wizard of oz contest on game artisans. i recently did more work on the texture and posed it. it just has a diff map.

Ohhh right, so its like a t shirt or something. I was thinking CD cover, thought the whole image comprised the cover.
Hot damn Neox 3DCoat's retopo looks even a bit better than Topogun. Have you tried both and stuck with 3DCoat? Also curious as to what kind of hotkey setup you're using in that video if you don't mind divulging <:]
i used polyboost first, then topogun, never really liked it that much and used zbrush instead (there is still one feature that zbrush has, that no other app has) and then tried 3dcoat and since then i'm with it, it has a great toolset, as for the shortcuts, strangely i only use space for the menu and no other shortcuts at all, dunno never really changed the shortcuts in 3dcoat, besides the ones for sculpting- which i dislike in 3dcoat
Neox : Thanks for showing that vid. It was really informative. The mixture of tri's and quads I am guessing is to bring more support to certain area's of the mesh? Since the HP has already been sculpted it doesn't have to stay all quads....is this right? Thanks again.
zstrips! very awesome for large areas, well you could create one large polygon in 3dcoat and subdivide it as needed but its just too unpredictable what the projection then does
Katana: its the lowpoly mesh, why would that be quad only?
i optimized some stuff in max afterwards and kreated more tris even, be it for supporting the shading or be it if aquads would just waste polies in certain areas
tacit math, thanks for the suggestion, yeah I`ll maybe experiment a bit more with that talon,
I am sort of blocking out the whole body now.... let`s see how this goes.... next time I'll try to do some nicer hp render..... you character is looking good, I wish I could see it in higher res.
do you have a concept for it?

I just always thought that things were more predictable if done in quads, but since Airborn is in UDK, I know that the mesh has to be in tris, as opposed to Zbrush, where it works smoother in quads...So I guess in the end, it goes back to whatever gets the job done...nice cat btw and I like how you arrived at the name/concept...congratz on the 'R'.

well in the end everything will be tris in the game engine anyways, no matter what engine it is going to be triangulated
So much cool stuff the last few pages in here. Here's something I started playing with in my free time at work between projects. Very early, just blocking stuff out and such. Don't know if I want to go realistic and go for more detail, or keep it pretty low poly and more Guitar Hero style.
NICE! I love Buckethead man, I've been meaning to model him Guitar Hero style since playing Jordan frantically in GH2. Keep us informed, I wanna see how it goes.
When we took over the building we're in now (it was Netflix before us), wandering around the completely empty building, "Buckethead" was scrawled across every whiteboard in the entire building. It was creepy as fuck.
just got back to working on this guy, making him dirty now and buiding some more parts for him (feet are unfinished). Going to place him in a scene once i get finished, weeeee:)
TheMadArtist: Nice idea. Proportions are off though. Calfs need to be longer, perhaps even the thighs and arms slightly shorter. Put alot of focus on his hands and hair and of course the face, though it's fairly simple. If you want to have him guitarhero-style then you should definately exagerate his proportions alot more. Make him super thin and his hair and bucket huge.

Cheers man, thanks for the crits. Yeah, gonna go the Guitar Hero style now, so messing with proportions at the moment. Your right, the main thing I'm looking to exaggerate are the bucket, his overall lankiness, and his freaky hands and super long fingers: http://images.thegauntlet.com/pics/Buckethead.jpg
@ Neox 3dcoat looks nice in Retopo... is it possible to do the stuff on the tail in topogun ?
(i cant decide wich program i should buy)
nope thats pretty unique to 3dcoat, while it was basicly also a part of claytools but afaik topogun doesn't give you any slice/spline tools at all, haven't been using it pretty much since a few weeks after i bought so, i might be wrong
I dig slow Fridays at work where I can work on whatever. Ok, rounding things out, getting proportions right...and gave him his nunchucks. Don't mind the crappy hair planes at the moment, those are more just to give me an idea of how far I want his hair to come out.
This should probably be filed under "what I was working on" since I lost it in a hard drive crash but I wanted you all to see how awesome it was going to be. These images are all that remain RIP.

for some reason i see the white bit on his head as a popcorn bucket
Laughing_Bun, holycrap buddy I mourn with you. Looks realy good. I imagine how great will your next be!
I have two hard drives and I keep all the important stuff copied on both of them plus I have an 8gb usb flash to make backups from time to time.
keizza, nice concept. Reminds me of edea from Final Fantasy 8.

more noisy ' concept ' blocking here :

I get what you mean, but you dont think the linework looks weird being so thin compared to the linework on the main piece?
shotgun: hehe, nice 1
spitty: flying-propeller-monkey = pure win!
Still messing around with sculpts. Wondering if I'm improving much.
Arms, lots of arms:
ah quick retopo video from 3dcoat

High and lowpoly of a trainwagon for a scene im working on. Lowpoly is 15000 tris.
Critics are welcome!
Never even heard about the zstrips feature.
Something i always missed.
cheers

spitty, ur monkey rocks dude, nice colors there.
nice start on Tank! always loved this particular mecha
