for the naggers , whats stopping you to do good art ? do you need a challenge to that ? most people that nag rarely finish their entry , so instead of complaining go do some actual art. People investing their free time and money on stuff like this , so show some understanding

Anywho, drop the countdown and this wouldnt be an issue. All this does is discourage people from putting in there best effort b/c of constant let down. Not forgetting people DO reschedule there lives to make time for this. Its not like it takes only a few days to make an entry. Its a large time dedication of more than 1 person.
I do believe contests need the community to participate for it to become a sucess. Site zbrush centrals horrible comic challenge. That had very few of clout participate and it became a running joke. Its a symbiotic relationship that requires mutual respect from both sides. As I want this community to continue to grow, im going to join.
In the end, as Adam said, im sure he would launch right on time if he could. But since he cant, my crit is drop the timer and just ballpark a time frame. Its working against him.

Well, my daughter goes under the knife tomorrow. Not saying she wouldn't have had this contest not been delayed, i'm just sayin'... there's a chance. Hell, with all the dialysis I have to do i'm going to be hard pressed to finish anything.

It was the only way to get out of work cuz I used all my sick-days. Now that UC was delayed it made all that work for nothing AND I can't enjoy a Payday. In the wip threads ive seen the hughe texture sheets and i have a question.
Does the end texture have to be one image for everything or did the people
just combine all the individual maps onto one big one to show they dont exeed the
specifications for the challenge.
It depends on the specs which haven't been released yet. I suspect we will be given a overall pixel budget and be told to spend it however we wish. There might be further restrictions like power of 2 textures only or no more than 10 individual sheets but we'll have to wait and see.
Last year I think it was an overall budget, spend it how you like and people just combined the textures into one sheet because the final shot required to show all textures.
Something I did badly last year, with textures, was to spread them too thinly on the whole scene. Scenery near the camera can get the textures bumped up, scene objects that are far away don't need anything near the same resolution.
Good point target, if you look at previous winners, they adhere closely to their concepts, and don't do any more work than they have to. Focus on what's prominent in the scene, don't waste time detailing little things in the distance.

Anyone with any idea of the ammount of time and effort it takes to orchastrate a submission for this kind of contest would be feeling really jerked around by the start date of this competion. It does deflate the hell out of you when this thing gets postponed. Anyone saying "boo hoo" can kiss my ass.

I fully understand the work and pressure it takes to put this on, but totally agree with you, don't announce anything if it's not going to be ready 2 months later. I think my partner is out and even though I'd stick it, I'm pretty much onto other things at this point.

Well I personally dont care, its not like I have to build some emotional state of mind to compete, its just game art, and the best thing about that guys...well guess...you can build game art around the year!
