Hey! I just met a bunch of you at the polycount party at GDC and thought I should join up and see what this is all about Looking forward to getting involved!
I am currently working with a game dev tools developer but have frequented polycount forums for game art related questions for a long time. We met up with a few members of the polycount community at GDC this year so I thought I would drop in and say hi!
I am a Texture Artist that was looking around for a forum to discuss 3D stuff; one that was mostly around gaming. This one seems to be pretty active so I thought I would sign up and give it a shot. I am not a very experienced artist as of yet, but I am getting better. My goal is to one day start my own indie company and make my own games. Cheers everyone!
Hi, I did a 3D design instructionary course at my Uni last October ( really really basic) for fun and liked it so much that i am working hard everyday now to get the skills to make this my job one day. Iam currently working with an Indiegame Studio on my first 3D Game. I hope i can learn a lot here and get some good feedback while admiring your guys great work. Regards, Funky.
I'm a 20 something UK Architect by trade and know next to nothing about 3D unless it involves AutoCAD. This will just be a bit of a hobby for me, and it may be some time before I have anything to show for it Software wise I have access to 3DS Max and Photoshop and once I know a little I can get hold of a copy of Quixel too.
Hello all, Sean here. I'm aspiring to become a game artists. I'll often visit this site for critique (to receive and give), learn, and grow as an artist. I look forward to meet you all and sharing ideas.

Hello. I am a 2nd year in game art working on a final project. All of my textures are hand painted, and I have a normal map for my tree trunk generated by Photoshop. My first question is, does the normal map work with the hand painted style? The first photo is with the normal map, the second without.
I would also appreciate any suggestions on how I can continue to add detail to the texture on the trunk while fitting the hand painted style it currently has.
I'm Carl and I'm a rookie 3D game artist looking to specialize in 3D character and environment design, and hoping to one day master the art of creating functional, elegant, and well textured geometry for game characters. My university education was a good starting ground but I have found that the knowledge I have gained thus far as a Junior is quite inefficient for becoming the designer I want to be. I hope that I can learn everything I need to know to be one of the best from becoming part of the Polycount community! Not sure who reads these but feel free to see some of the basic stuff I've done so far ranging from 3ds Max rendering and compositing in Photoshop here at my website Featured Gallery... http://carlravensbergen.com/featured-gallery/ Here's a screenshot of what I'm working on right now. Just leaning the fundamentals of Maya modeling!
Hi! I'm currently in the Digital Animation and Game Design program at Ferris with about another year to go. I'm working towards becoming a 3D character artist. I'm looking forward to being part of the community here!
Hi! I'm a Senior 3D Graphics Artist and have been working with realtime models, mainly in VR, for about 10 years now. I also do a lot of digital painting and watercolors. Despite all that, I actually feel pretty strongly that I'm still struggling to break free from mediocrity. I'm hoping that contributing here and keeping a 3D modeling sketchbook will help me finally push through to the other side.
Hey! I'm a 3D game art graduate with a strong love for hand painted textures. I've been a long time lurker on polycount and thought its about time to join the community proper. I'm looking forward to sharing my art and contributing to this great forum!
