you have a really solid form there, the next step would just be breaking down subtle forms, blending, and better color choices. people are actually very desaturated when you look at them.
I'm literally out of time and energy. Monitor calibration is kicking my ass on this one too, I just can't seem to get a good thing going for any monitor. So I'm going with my main one, which will be washed out by monitors with less levels of contrast :P yuck.
The execution kicked my ass too. Used a new process, and it confused the heck outa me.
Oh, well, next time, better.

i dont know, the purple reminds me of being a child walking by a porn shop. you peer in the window to see something awesome and you have the neon glow in your peripheral vision making what you see that much more sureal.

Well it was submitted as soon as I put it up here, so no point in changing it either way.
I personally like it, for somewhat similar reasons as richkid, although I really like that subversive undertones to richkid's take. hahaha.
so here's my final rough before coloring, and the end result. it didn't get as fancy as i wanted but hey it was fun, thanks guys, and good work everyone!

I didn't end up finishing mine in the end... I couldn't muster up enough love to bring myself to finish it. I guess something just wasn't clicking... I'm disappointed with myself for not finishing it, but I'm hopefull that I can finish something for the official competition (Too bad my 3D skills have gotten really rusty... )

Mezz: I feel your pain, I was unable to complete my entry as well. I love the idea of the warm up mini's though. They're a real eye opener to get all spiced up for the main challenge. Unfortunately I was unable to complete but good job to all who did.
My body feels broken, I just slept 3 hours, I'm already "late" for work. So tired
Anyway, Good luck fellow artist, I am very curious about which pieces will be voted as the top 5 by the public. This mini really got me pumped for the main event! and hopefully this time I will listen to my active self, to start early and spread the load so I won't find myself in a "fuck, the deadline is in a few hours and I haven't done a thing" crunch.
oh and loch, So did many others and some have nothing but an image of a general. Hope it wont be a big deal since there are loads who forgot it.
Yeh I hear you, the deadline was tight... I barely had time to fix the mistakes, for some reason I forgot to tone down the logo, does it stick out too much ?

AGREED! The crappy part is that I spent another hour on my model a day after submitting it, and it already looks 200% better, doing things in the last minute really makes you less productive Oh well, a good lesson for the real deal!

Coldkodiack and Evil - Those are such great pieces! Cold, I think you should find a monitor that's working and finish that sucker!

Wanted him to have a mechanical arm, but it proved to be to much of a hassle to paint it in an hour, so I left it out.

Also, it say " select 3 entries and place your choices from 1st to 3rd." but you are able to select 5 of them, so i dont know whats up with that.
