Not bad, but I think this would be improved a lot if you went in with the Flatten brush and really punched the main shapes of the faces, right now they look very "soft" while carved stone faces like this tend to be very stylised with sharp edges between the planes (especially lips, cheekbones and eye sockets).
You really should just bake that extra handle detail into an AO map, there is such a small gap between the handle and the side panel that with a good AO and normal it will look the same.
Yeah I'm trying hard to get my head around the idea of AOs and Normals and Baking. It's like biology for me or something, having a hard time getting it through my thick skull. I suppose I should understand it all so I don't waste future polies on models, yes?
Not game art... yet. Thinking of eventually getting this down to a high poly car that you'd see in forza or gran turismo. At the moment just the shell of an e92. I'm not a car enthusiast so might be some inaccuracies.
Heres a gun (HK-416) I'm working on. This is the high poly, and I'm getting close to finishing it. I just have to do the other side of the gun and finish the barrel area, then its on to the attachments (light, handle, sight, etc). Then I will continue to the low poly and texturing.
It's a bit inaccurate in some areas, particularly the grip.
I'm not sure if you're aware but http://www.pixagogo.com/DeicideNBF is a large ref gallery for weapons. There are big M4 and 416 albums in there as well so you might be able to compare what you've got to those photos and improve a few things.

Hey that was a really awesome link, but it might just be me but a lot of the stuff I clicked on was missing
Adam, like 8FtSpider said, your work has a quality that's very recognizable. I delight each time you post a new piece and will be looking forward to see what you create in the future.
so, i'm still lost on the tf2 lowpoly highway-been modeling on a whale a guy over at tf2maps was asking for his whalerace map - i just found the idea cool and did this thing
Thanks for that crit on the front, i'll fix that up. Managed to get this almost finished today, really surprised at how much faster I'm modelling these days. Some of the details I'm putting into the texture just because I know it won't be seen up close.
for the handle part, thats how it was in the refrence that I had, but I think I'm going to change it to the one thats in the other refrence photos because that seems to be the most widely used grip for this gun.
@Racer445
Thanks for the link. I wish I had that when I started. Also, your AK74 tutrial on your portfolio is actually what inspired me to do this gun. (this is the first gun I've made) I love the texturing part of the tutrial, and I am definatly going to use that as refrence when I do the textures.
A chunky pixel 2d rendering framework for Unity. The top editor show shows a rough approximation of what the 2d scene should look like, while the actual game view is rendered with unitys GUI to assure accurate low resolution blocky pixel look.
that looks a bit better, howerver ther still looks like you have some areas that are unlit or something. make sure you dont have object space selected(if using a tangent space map)
Ahh I didn't see that check box. It is my first time using marmoset.
edit: Right I think I got it fixed. I will stop posting until I finalize the texture more. Thanks for the help EarthQuake
hehe, thanks aesir, to be honest, i have no real idea how this works precisely
all i know is that the whale is a rather huge object that the tf2 players can jump onto and ride it or something like that
here's the finished version with eversolightly "texture"
been making some high poly space junk based of Paul Richards concept not, entirely true to the concept bit of artistic licence in there! still got to add a control console and some more barriers. I was thinking about making it into like a monorail trolley type thing.....:s

A crate of "Fish Sticks" I'm working on for my TF2 map, still needs some texture lovin but its getting there.
A few more props to go...
"shoot da red fishhads boy"

That front bumper was such a pain...
you could also add alittle extra depth on where the red x is

edit: also, props for having the same last name as me. :P
P.S. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year

21 and 26 are definitely something I'd love to see worked through.
good start tho.
here's a model I'm workin on for a lil unity game i'm fuckin with.
I have to leave my lazy habit and finish this model soon..:)
critique & comments are welcomed
Yeah I agree that would be awesome. I'm in love with unity at the moment and have been working on a small rts game for some weeks now.
keen: That could really be cool for a paper mario style game, or even something like fez
Need some help with the texture I am not sure what to do with the back part (the adjusting part).
Also is this better for the normal map I had the wrong one selected.

fannnnnn tastic idea.
in the technical forum, then?
Long time no posty, but here's some stuff I did today. Blue pencil and brush pen, then paper texture and gouache-style highlights added in PS:
My new year's resolution is definitely to do more personal work so hopefully I'll be posting more often from now on.
Cheers, Nick.
reminds me some sort of Predator alien)))
more, yes please.
