Quick study I did based on some concept I found, pretty happy with the front and 3/4 biew, hate the side view for some reason, happens to most of my sculpts but I don't know what's off.....

The profile view is definitely lacking in comparison to the other two. It appears to be off balance and almost tipping forward. Overall a nice sculpt though. Did a quick liquify..
Squared out the jaw
Pushed the ear to the center
Pulled the clavicle/chest area forward
Moved the shoulders/back area back
Set back some of the facial features, was a bit flat faced
The neck could use some tweaking, there's a harsh separation between the sternocleidomastoid and the front of the neck that seems odd

Thanks Lombos, really appreciate it.
Saw the errors in the back, clavicle/chest after I posted it.
Really need to work on it not looking so flat, seems to be the main issue.
And will take the rest of your crits in to advice on the next one, thanks again!
edit: wasn't planning on working on it anymore, but couldn't resist.
Followed your advice, and I do think it looks better, thanks again
Is there like a rule of thumb for how far the eyes should be pushed back? that seems to be one of the main issues in most of my sculpts
eye depth can vary quite a bit between people, especially compared to nose and jaw size... ultimately, the best thing to do is just study a bunch of photos
finally had a free hour to myself after god knows how long being busy with life... herped this derp out tonight... can't wait for that impossible day where I have time for another real personal art project
Thanks woog! My sketching workflow is super simple... just standard brush and masking for things like that. Pop it out with standard brush, then mask off the top or bottom layer and drag with the move tool fold the shapes over eachother.
Awesome stuff in here *tips hat* I've started using zbrush a few days ago, with the help of the eat3D zbrush dvd(s) which are a great help to learn the basics. currently just fiddling around with a few standard brushes, just to get the feel of the whole thing, while making heads.
from yesterdays session at karakter concept, henrik posed for us, and apperently he doesn't look much like that, didn't see him from the front during the whole session, he really was good at not looking at anyone
3/4 to side looks closest to him.
also i recorded it yesterday with livestream, dunno why but it stopped after about half an hour :X
i have to say, while its kinda cool to have a livestream, my small slate is too weak to handle zbrush and streaming at the same time and it eats the batteries like cake.
Since few weeks with a friend we sculpt every tuesday night, it's very helpfull and funny.
I start everytime with a zsphere and sculpt with dynamesh.
Here is my last speed sculpts, inspired by Paul Bonner which is an awesome illustrator.
I'm not fast currently, but i improving me week after week!
2/3hours for each.
When you guys do these really stylized characters do you look at any reference while working? If so, what kind? or have you been doing this so long that it's all in your brainstuff?
It's all about getting comfortable with anatomy, man. You should study the body forms and know how the body/face features interact with each other realistically in order to properly exagerate them. Having a cartoon ridden childhood hels too.
tacit, wow again, nice shapes - you have such a great feeling for form and style *_*
denis: lol i guess it would be cool to have the grain be a bit more blurry its unlikely that it is perfectly sharp :P
here is my last life sculpting from the karakter concept life drawing session, this time a different guy but in the same outfit as last time. Sadly Windows wrecked my slate with an auto update, so i won't be able to do more sculpts soon, hope the support will be quick.
