does what it says on the tin, but could use some clues that it's been out in the weather, sat on, defaced, carved on by kids etc
I would'nt have modelled those circles on the side btw can't tell at all they're 3d and not texture. polycount seems a little excessive for what the object does
edit: it does have a decent look to it though, just needs pushing a little bit further to make it stand out
Stupid little doodle thing trying out my style on concept art and just comin up with concepts. Majorly disappointed that I messed up perspective a few times, wasn't thinking.
results? Style doesnt really work for full on environment concepts (works better for individual prop artwork, scale kills all detailing) and I really should have planned an enviro space before just drawing ; /
I think theres still elements there I want to model in the future, though.
New release of Galtanors Invasion mod that comes with 5 new rodents monster i created:
Freeze Bunny (can freeze you, like bulletime, can also completly freeze)
Undead Mouse (Needs to behead but then he still keeps walking and can explode to bio goo)
Demolition Bunny (Throws a lot of greneades)
Easter Bunny (Drops Eggtimer that explode)
UndeadCrawlingMouse (can crawl! has one leg)
GCMp, that looks like one expensive bench for whats going on in it...
Even if a bench is going to use unique Uvs like that, it's probably worth while modeling it in high res and cranking up the detail on it, good base so far, but probably achieve roughly the same result as a tilable texture.
NICK! Do you have a secific workflow for these thumbs? It looks so much nicer than the default round brush. There is something very specific about quality of the masses your a pulling out but I can't quite put my finger on it! Thanks for any tip.
That are some insane concepts! It looks like they are a crapload of work, atleast they would for me even if could paint that good!
You also made simple 3d bases for them, right? Would be cool to see them too.
sweeet work Nick! I really like the way youve rendered the 3D and then added so much paint work over the top, it looks so solid, didnt it take ages to do every view like that? I think Id have had a hard time just doing one view!
pior: I used the 'Thick Pencil' brush from Natural Brushes 2 for these. I turned off opacity and set stroke width to pen pressure. Give it a go!
Davision3d + Ged: They're about 90 percent 3d. I thought if it was good enough for Hawkprey then I'd give it a go. They're not that time consuming either. The yellow one, for instance, took about 3 hours in Maya (with a bit more for simple renders) and then another hour or two in photoshop for all 3 views. The blue fella took a bit longer (but mainly due to Maya refusing to open files and crashing to desktop...:()
Tumerboy: I've already broken the page formatting as it is!
hope to get the hi poly done tonight and then low poly/tex whenever I've time. Dare say I'll need some help with the baking down to low (always my weak spot.)
EDIT; looks prettty stunted and unbalanced. Will make it longer/slightly thicker

Edit: Plus Mynx.
I'd sculpt hair, but any more subdivision will destroy my PC.
AUG-2
7000 tris
1024 normal
have to make color map and spec and shader
new prop for my microbrewery scene. Still wip adding the name of the brewery and some finer detail to the scuffing.

seems to be pretty decent env work, but the shader destroys it... at least to me
Started with a sphere. It's basically a bust of some weird, horned thing xD

for a quake 2 mod...All diffuse
Stripe or No Stripe???
Cheers, Nick.

Bioengineering/affront to evolution alien nonsense, yeah!
will probably stay rough for a while, going to move on to some other designs to keep momentum. Intended for Lowpoly.
@ NicK: nice concept work!

Here's a gif for the process on the yellow one:
