They don't appear here (as embedded). If I right click, and 'open image in new tab', it works. I think there's a conflict with dropbox putting the image into HTML (even though the link is jpg). I don't know why they do this, for photo gallery images. I made an image folder in my 'public' folder, and I share from there. I've always had issues with the embedded linking from their gallery.
vampire: I have no issue with personal video creations here too. As long as they don't belong in the thread of awesomeness
This is a frame taken from a video shot with my GoPro. It is attached to the underside of the wing on my friends Cesna 150. We were buzzing some friends on the bare spot on the hill when some other friends joined us in the aerial fun
So here is a little photo dump. I was thinking about making a thread but "it's not game art" and I'm no longer a 3d artist... so it doesn't make sense.
I know these files are large and that I'm posting a bunch... but... nope I'm not going to write something saying sorry. It takes 10 seconds to load these and they look good. You should be proud of your work. Not post it at 500px. That screams "I suck at retouching."
Yesterday I did a shoot in the studio by myself because I wanted some new shots for various profiles.
Shot this musician a couple weeks ago. I just found out I'll be shooting him again next month.
Shot my girlfriend a while back. The challenge was that she doesn't like photos of herself. But I wanted to shoot her... I guess every photographer wants to shoot their significant other. So I put her behind silk and blasted light through.
@Talbot. Not to get personal, but I don't suck at retouching I just post small sizes sometimes so deal with it. Second, if you're going to take a portrait (your third picture down), at least get the eyes in focus.
Just spent an evening shooting with Panasonic Lumix GH1/2 (micro four thirds) and a variety of lenses/adapters. Nothing to show though (not my cameras). However I'm sorely tempted to buy a GH2, especially for the ridiculously high bitrate HD video you can get using the Driftwood hack.
Anyone used these cameras? I'd value the opinion of my fellow Polycounters.

And I agree, it does look like its out of focus. But actually the client wanted a softer look so I softened it. I'm not a huge fan of it... but since that photo costs half of what your 7d costs... I'm not going to complain.
Good luck shooting your next local car show.
@Gmanx I've never used the GH1/2 but I've heard that they are really awesome when you crack the firmware. Actually that's kind of what they are known for. I don't know the specifics but I think you can get 1080 at 60p which is better than the Canon DSLR's.
Yeah, hacked the GH2 is known to be one of the best DSLR-type cameras on the market for video. If video is your main interest and you want to go M43, its a really good choice. The Olympjus OM-D is probably a better choice for stills.
Only thing to really keep in mind if you want to go M43 and shoot manual focus adapted lenses: you'll have a difficult time finding wide angle lenses because of the 2x crop, even a 18mm lens (very wide 35mm slr) is a 36mm equiv, ie: not really wide at all. Its hard to find wides considering you need a 10mm, 12mm, or 14mm, and then around 7mm for a super wide. Though there are good native AF m43 lenses in these focal lengths, and voigtlander makes a 17/0.95 for M43 which is pretty cool.
Yeah cropping is always that stat that doesn't get advertised and can screw you. That's why on set people use 7d's instead of 5d's as viewfinders. The 7d has a s35mm sensor or very close.
Thanks Talbot, Earthquake. I went out last night with a film editor buddy - who was explaining that there are adapters for film camera lenses too. I follow Philip Bloom, and love his blog. Good advice on the lack of proper wide angles too, thanks. I'll definitely by using this more for video (corporate stuff) along with a Zacuto (or similar) rig. I hope to be posting stuff in here too though, once I'm operational.
Cross posting these from my sketchbook thread; I never got serious about photography until now and I don't know why, taking and editing these was so much fun!
Any critiques appreciated!
Here are a few shots from my trip to Normandy, France last week. So much to see and my favourite place of all was probably the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, an incredibly beautiful and peaceful site in memory of some of the heroes of World War 2.
those Scandinavian pics look a lot like Alaska where I live. Just out of curiosity, what cameras do you guys use? I'm wanting something better than my point and shoot and cellphone cameras.
Loved your first one prophecies, clicked on it, and then I went through your other pictures, the landscapes are gorgeous!
Thanks, man! Iceland and Norway were by far my two favorite countries.
To answer your question, Nightshade, I'm using a Nikon D7000. You'll quickly realize that it's not really the body that does the heavy lifting, but rather the lenses you use.
I love the shot, Mats Effect, but watch out for the oversaturation of the blues. What on earth happened at the bottom left-hand corner?

Like you mentioned, I think he boosted the saturation a bit too much, and it actually created a blue out of the moisture on the path (and made it pixelate in that lower left area). I really do like the image overall though. If you want to boost the grass, for effect, mask out the path first, and handle it separately.
