Great shot Prophecies, love the balance in that picture.
Took this one this morning on my way to work. Unfortunately I had to shoot through a fence thanks to some construction.. might have to try for this shot again next winter.
This shot was taken from the top of Puʻu Waʻawaʻa cinder cone and the volcanoes are from left to right : Mauna Kea (4,205m - 13,803 ft), Mauna Loa ( 4,169m - 13,679ft), Hualālai (2,521m - 8,271 ft)
Last photo processed (I usually sit on images I really like for about a year before doing anything with them), a little cliched but it was a very nice(but very cold!) morning :
The hardest shoot Ive ever done...
Lots of sand everywhere
Tide coming in fast
Dark as fuck
Lots of wind
camera not AF-ing properly
girls heels sinking into the sand
awesome lets try take some long exposure shots...
Challenging, good learning experience, not the results I wanted, they look ok but I wanted better. I will revisit this again at some point.. do a second shoot and plan out all the irritations..
Directing 5 people in the dark that dont really speak much english was also fun.. loll
Taken with my shitty cell phone. Im not much for street photography but i guess using it for that purpose is perfect.
New york turned out to be great for that.
Dont think, just snap the moment. So many things going on with lines of buildings and traffic that it turns into something regardless of what you actually photograph.
Does anyone know a method to finding if someone is linking/using your flickr photos? I have a few, that have been viewed way more than others, and I'm just curious if someone has used them on their site.
I did find my following photo, was used by a Japanese blog, about lego: Lego Hulk by notman05, on Flickr
being out in asia Intellectual property doesnt mean shit most of the time and Ive had to watermark everything.. I caught some people using my images locally.. because of facebook
For the most part, I don't care (unless they are making money from the photo directly), but just curious. Doing an image search on google, only helped to find the Hulk image. I have 5 other videos that have about 3-4 times the views, compared to my other images.
Oh, I completely understand why it would bother others. I'm more of a casual photographer (who barely knows what he's doing), so for myself, it's just personal interest/curiosity. I'm often hoping for critique/comments, because I'm still trying to figure things out.
I definitely like your results btw... though on this last one, the wine glass kind of gets lost in the background (if I were to critique anything ).
def not as impressive as people make believe, but it had a nice vibe about it that i wouldnt mind revisiting. Its nice that its a hub that you go through when traveling so i wont book a flight just for NY. But will stop there for a day or two when i pass through it.

Hi man, sorry felt like I was being a bit harsh.. we had a little celebration after the shoot and I drank a bottle of wine and a pile of whisky to calm my nerves after the shoot.. the whole image stealing thing was a really irritating episode for me. Guess Im still irritated by it..
Im still making my way with my photography but will be more than happy to help out where I can. One thing I thought was a good idea was posting EXIF data and and setup used for taking the picture.
The wine glass is pretty dark, to light it in that particular picture/setup would require a lightsource pointing at itfrom behind. Id used all my lights (3 flashes 1 portable strobe) and lighting the glass would mean Id light the fingers too and it would look strange. Im pretty happy with it. I should have used white wine .. xD
Rens well that doesnt sound very good.. hahahah .. I miss stockholm ...
As for the wine glass, I was thinking/wondering, if wine was in her other hand, it would have stood out more, with the white of the chair behind it. Hard to say, without seeing it though.... it may have looked less relaxed.
Don't get me wrong though, it's a good image. I just throwing it out there, because I didn't notice the glass initially.
And agreed, that didn't sound very positive about NY I've looked into traveling there some time, but the cost of staying/eating there is pretty high.
hehe, well i came from orlando florida where i had a fantastic time that was probably hard to beat. I met there with some friends, which is the opposit of NY.
I traveled alone because i had no idea what to do for christmas.
So what was a joke of "ha i should just fly to new york.." turned into me being a ticket 24 hours later to orlando for 4 days and then to NY for 5. I thought I booked it for 1,5 week in advance but turned out i flew 3 days later.
On arrival at JFK i didnt even knew where i was going. I got into a cab and the name soho came to mind. After getting out there I looked for a hotel and became familiar with the area.
I had not looked at a map before i went or really invested in what to do or see, i loved just roaming around and getting places. I walked ground zero to central park multiple times and just looked at different things.
Some of the buildings are impressive but im not much for architecture. I went around to grab some coffee here and there and enjoyed the atmosphere. Super easy to talk to people and go around though.
Ohyeah and there was no fucking christmas light what so ever in the city, absolute bullshit. And on the 25th downtown manhatten was empty, just some lost tourists on the street.
But dont let my experience ruin yours, i just .. i .. i mean what.

Yeah the wine glass in the other hand would have worked a treat, its often this sort of situation happens, after a shoot reviewing the pictures I get the "daaaw could have done it differently and it would look awesum.." haha but thats the learning process I guess. Also at shoots like this time is limited usually about 4-5 hours but often theres several different lighting setups and etc. you end up with a very pressurized situation to do everything scheduled for that day and not really looking at the pictures properly.
The screen at the back of the camera is also not really big enough and I have been considering getting a small TV and plug that into the HDMI port to review pictures every so often during a shoot.
Rens- thats cool man I have only ever really travelled alone for work, and its all preorganised so I know where Im staying and what Im going to be doing most of the days Im there It would be great to go to a place and pick your destination in a cab .. haha .. respect..
I seriously wanna go eat as many kinds of hotdogs from as many different places in NY

Yeah, I have the Sony NEX 5R, which can connect to my tablet wirelessly, and display my image, which I was really hoping would result in seeing my pics better, and knowing if I need another shot. Unfortunately, it doesn't do it real time, so I have to take photos, THEN sync my tablet, transfer the photo, then view it. They can't remain synced, while taking the photo
Soon though. Sony just released a camera that basically uses your phone/tablet as the viewfinder. The images transfer very quickly to the device, while the camera is shooting. There is a buffer in the camera, to handle when the transfers can't keep up. I can sort of do this now, but with limited features (basically as a wireless shutter with an active screen).
Anyway, I should add, I didn't know if you were looking for critiques. I know this isn't like our design section, but figured I would share my thoughts
