Rens, you can always use the countdown timer on the camera If I need to do something that doesnt allow me to even press the shutter, I set it to fire 2 sec after the shutter has been pressed
Question: I took 3 shots for a panorama, with 9 exposures each (total 27) And when I throw them in Photoshops 'make HDR' button PS hates me, obviously. Anyone got a good idea on how to combine them (making it panorama + HDR). I have managet to make a simple photomerge which turned out ok so i don't think it's the RAM being too small or anything...
Should I try to make the panoramas first, ending up with 9 different exposures of the full shot, or should i make the HDR first, and then combine those into a panorama?
And yes I know HDR is usually frowned upon, but i'll keep it subtle.
Thought exactly the same thing. Very Dutch, I visited there briefly a few years after HL2 came out and I thought it was heavily inspired by the Netherlands.
Snader - Check out Photomatix Pro, it does a better job at making HDRI images than photoshop does (works on less resources too). I would run all the images through that first, then put them in PS and use photomerge.
No pictures here. Just wanted to say that i bought myself a brand spanking new flash for my canon today. Bought the 430 EX II. Now i just have to learn how that sucker works... :P
That *looks* a little too gimmicky to me, i'm sure you could find a small relatively lightweight tripod, that has adjustable legs that would give you a lot less headaches than that, for instance you could only really use that on even ground right?
Wow Eraserhead !! Your shots look amazing. What software are you using for your postprocess ? Is this photoshop or something like lightroom ? (sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find any infomration about that on your photography website)
Thanks guys @GoSsS: the vast majority of my post process work is done in Canon's DPP (Digital Photo Proffessional), I used to do some more PP tweaks in Photoshop, but now I almost exclusively stay in DPP, it's such a great program.
@ JordanW: Great shot; what setup did you use to capture that?
Here is another long exposure taken few nights ago, the bridge this was taken on vibrates rather heavily with traffic, especially when a bus drives by; 5D Mark II + 70-200mm 4.0L , 30 seconds at f/32 and ISO 100.
Took this on my crappy camera phone, with an even crappier filter on it. BUT. I really like this for some reason. Its at PNG Plaza in Pittsburgh. Some girl was playing in the fountain.
I grabbed this picture from KISS in Glasgow, Scotland the other night. Was taken from the crappy iphone 3GS lens but unlike most of the snaps the lighting, focus and atmosphere landed just right.
oooh oooh i just clicked "buy" on a canon 70-200 f4 L. Expect moose.
or, before i make it to moose land in a few weeks, goats
Nice! You'll love that lens
Sorry for the spam; I snapped this exposure last night of the revolving Elephant Carwash sign near downtown Seattle; I really like how the light streaming on the sign turned out: 5D Mark II + 17-40mm 4L

Yep remote shutter is essential! My 350d came with one, but if you've got... i think any EOS camera you can buy the same one for $30-40 http://cgi.ebay.com/A0512-New-CANON-RC-1-RC1-remote-control-EOS-450D-500D-/390184014506?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Cameras_Photographic_Accessories&hash=item5ad8c792aa
Really nice little thing to have.
[edit]looks like not all, but lots of digital EOS camera bodies(needs the IR thing)

Also: pretty pic:
The timer trick works really well
Though you cannot really shoot moving targets and the img still shakes from the mirror slapping back and forth:D
I put a foam layer around the lens now so i can actualy let it touch the ground for more stability.
Got myself a canon s90. For a compact im really impressed with the output.
nothing special

A monopod might be what you really want if you're looking for light.
