Rens: Are you doing the focus blur post processed? Or is that the camera's actual focus? I like the effect, just curious. I like the flashlight method too
I never post process blut effects, the only thing i mostly do is the basics, levels, curves, some color, sharpen/unsharpen,
evenso, i mostly go too far with it
and i got really surprised about how extreem the blur was on there photos,
i was so close on the object that it could barely focus, and used an f1.8 setting
flashlights are quite handy!
when ever you take a pic of something, and you want just a bit more light in one spot, but without killing it with the normal flash, yeah you can pull some cool tricks with it
I just got back from some vacations on Madeira islands and used a bit my camera that was getting dusty on the box... completly noobish at this but the island is so beautifull i couldn't stop taking photos.
haha it is indeed high as hell, and there are a few more places like that on the island.
I have another photo from another great place but it is taken with a cellphone.
this one is probably one of my most succesful photos atm!
Ive spend an hour between mice, from 30 cm away up to 2 meters,
this took long, so even if they are used to some people walking by, sitting/standing still is really key to succes here. (meaning, besides your head, you do not moving at all for 5 min straight)
at one point i wanted to get closer without making too much sound, so i slowly moved down on both knees and one hand on the ground leening in, while taking pics with the other, (this worked btw, even with a shutter of 80, i have quite alot of sharp photos out of it)
at first i was really pissed there were leaves in the picture, but it worked out quite nice, it really puts the focus on the interresting parts
this one might be better viewed at 1024 instead of 1200 pixels,
but it goes well with the other one, since that is also 1200
guess ill scale the website version down a bit
I like both shots, but I kind of like the leafs in the way It helps add some interest and framing to the image. Like I said though, the second shot is cool too
This was as close as I could get to this fly that I swear was posing for the camera! Astonishingly difficult to get photos of flies in mid flight... but I fancied the challenge.
dan!
Yeah its awesome here, there are so many cool things to see, even if you think youve seen it all, there will always be new things. In the world of afternoon sunnyness, i believe i am called the squirrel wisperer!
its a never ending story wich brings forward more then i hoped for.
wow the comments.. damn
thanks alot guys, really appreciate it
imslightlybored, for real? damn that is awesome to hear
mezz, maybe i should try and get some printed versions and see how they look,
ive never tried to print one out so maybe its about time to do so
try and sell some, even if its for a postcard price, that would be cool.
vik, thanks man!
vassago, hehe, well i dont know about that, but ill do my best to make that happen, thanks alot for the comment!
i went with a low contrast, something i like to do with landscapes,
i could push it alot harder, make those rays come out really strong, will give it a try by cutting the sky lose from the trees, prevent it from getting too dark/ contrast rich
only thing i got right now, wich was a lucky one, since i havent seen anything in 2 weeks and im starting to go into a depression, think im going to cry myself to sleep,
no but seriously , i really miss the squirrels
got this empty feeling when i walk around and there is nothing,

And that rhino looks exhausted.
Good shots btw... you guys are inspiring me to buy some more lens for my camera
also, a pingin.
I have a bunch more shots of Pig (that's his name, actually). I also have a bunch of high-res shots of the rhino that would be great for textures.
i like the freedom in your pics, those are compositions i wont dare choosing, but it adds alot more feeling to it!
Slum!
