Actually they probably would have also had to pay royalties for showing the car. I seem to remember that most networks or at least television shows have deals in place with with automotive manufacturers, which is why you'll often see everybody in a movie or TV show driving the same brand of car.
Besides, this costs a lot more since it wasn't cut for re-air so it'll cost NBC to put it up on HULU or ever show it again.
