Here is my first attempt at sketching on a PC. Took me a while to get used to using a mouse to draw instead of a pencil. I only used the paintbrush (no modifiers) and the smudge tool in Paintshop Pro 7.
Ancieto: its mudbox dude, (have it at work), cheers.
Chai: the base mesh was about 1500 tri's, which is fairly heavy, I usually start with something lower. They were both done with the same base.
SHEPEIRO, looking cool, I dig the goggels. I take it the textures are still a WIP? The helmet, eyeglass and the goggels look good but the rest looks unfinnished.
Clem: [talking to fire extinguisher] You're talking to me all wrong... It's the wrong tone. You do it again and I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron. Hey, tell me, does your mother sew? BOOM. Get her to sew that!
aniceto: Awsome work man, I'm becoming a fan of your work
Looking good gir.
I would work up the hair tex. a bit more. maybe some more broader vertical strokes and/or a stronger highlight up top.
Oh and I would add another row of edges to her chest to soften the side profile. She's lookin kinda sharp atm.
Very clean work overall. Should be a damn fine release.
Had a holiday around parts of asia, been trying to catch up with people and on work... in between, had a tinker with this:
a fair few tweaks of my soft light skin shader -- shadow hack works well too (the old one isn't a perfect direct comparison since it's just the same settings, so it wouldn't look quite that bad since the numbers would be further refined for the older one)
I don't consider this to be any good, just fooling around trying to get over my problems modeling human heads (and highpoly) in Max, but I haven't posted anything here for a while.
Started with a quadified version of the model on the right last night, got it to around http://i1.tinypic.com/24bjn0i.jpg, and then tweaked it off and on today to be a little bit more presentable.
I'd like to excuse a few of it's failings on style, but it's really just bad all around.
I think I'm going to stop reading your posts, Suprore, they're really far too depressing.
Modeling an accurately proportioned human head is hard (I certainly can't do it!). Cheer up and give yourself some credit. What you've got now is pretty good; why not channel some of that self loathing into productive tweaking?
IBXL: i'm thinking the lips protrude a little too far out? Either that or the surrounding area is too far back. Something about that area just looks a bit too harsh. Can you post your reference for her?

pretty much just trying to get a good work flow down..
might i ask, how detailed was the base meshes you used for them ?
would be nice to see the wireframe if it's possible
for normal mapping. did this in 1.5 hours with mudbox which I must say is an absolute joy to use over zbrush.
What's the best or standard way do do the inside of a characters mouth so it can talk and stuff?
this is for a class assignment, gotta get this character into quake 4

I think the forehead is getting a bit high, but the face can be that long if you want. Its just not a typical face.

Already did. Just imagine how emo my post would have been if I was showing this.
Anyway, thanks. And sorry, I'll try to be less annoyingly negative in the future.
(I'm sure everyone can see how bad my work is on their own. )
