HI everyone, I'm new to polycount. I thought I'd share a work in progress that is part of my final piece for university. I'm currently nearing the end of my masters and I'd appreciate some feedback in order to allow me to form a critique. Please feel free to share your thoughts, let me know any good and bad points it will help me out greatly.
Hello everyone, I have finally finished my first big environment art. It is based on my favorite game Skyrim's Dragonsreach.
It is posted on Artstation and I am eagerly waiting for some professional feedback so that I can grow my expertise. Thank you. https://www.artstation.com/suman_paul7
To get feedback on your work, make a Topic in one of the Showcase sections (2D, 3D, or Animation) and embed images you want feedback on.
It's especially useful to post works in progress, with regular updates like a development diary, so people can provide guidance along the way, and so you can apply it and improve your work!
This "waywo" Topic is really just a way to get the word out about your current works in progress. For feedback, make a new Topic. <3
If I am not wrong, I did post on the waywo? (3D) 2022 under the section of 3D & 2D Videogame Art and asked for feedback. Do I have to post in another place?
Here is a concept of the car that delivers petrol in a post-apocalyptic world. This is a customized truck with mobile gas station and winches on both sides. The idea comes from the movie ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘. I wanted to create my version of petrol truck, and to make it more mobile and dynamic. After working on various drafts, my final concept appears to be less aggressive than the truck in the movie.
after much messing aorund and discovering google maps has a measuring tool , I got the overall proportions a bit better
if I ever do this kind of piece again I will get the blockout spot on first then add the details. hard to get the heights correct though, bit of artistic licence here
Recently I did a project. I know it's not so cool but how can I improve myself in texturing? This model is Game Ready and it took almost 18 hours to complete.
I am trying to brush up my skills after a 5+ years break. I chose to make a rocket engine because I feel it has a good deal of complexity and variety. Yet I have managed to "cheat" my way out of it temporarily by buying a texture pack... It seems like preparing displacement maps for various kinds of geometry and "modelling" in this way yields good results in less time, even though it requires a significant amount of geometry to get good resolution. I think in the past this would have required a prohibitively amount of rendering time, while nowadays it seems acceptable. Is this common practice?
I also don't feel I have a good eye for lighting. I tried several setups and they all look okay to me, but definitely not stunning. What would you improve if you were me?
So happy to finally share this model I made for Poly Haven.
This was a real challenge for me to make and a huge learning experience. I really struggle with sculpting and so I put myself to the task of sculpting damage and wear to every surface on the asset and then relying on that to create some of the elements in the textures. I found this to result in much more organic textures.
Started working on the Heeler house from the children's show Bluey, using Maya and UE5. Has to be done in chunks because the house in the show contains non-Euclidean geometry. This section will contain the upstairs living room, the sun room, and the kitchen.

lil update on my Eevee stuff, this iwithout contact shadows and I think it looks a little cleaner
the rim light makes the hair a little too transparent, but with contact shadows it looks a little heavy
You can post wherever you like. But if you want feedback, its best to start your own Topic, instead of in a shared Topic.

@schelz seesm a bit bright overall to me and it does not pop ie each shape seems to meld in to the other if that makes sense
Shapes seem fine though

@Tejvir make a Topic of your own, add your art there for feedback, then link to it from here. Best way to get feedback.
@v@mpiRe I think your link is broken? Also, you're using an @ in your username, which prevents anyone from notifying you via an @ "mention".
