Just did a render of this model, that I think I will have to call done for now. Might fiddle with it later on as I have to move on to another project atm C&C much appreciated!
Realising that I haven't written in here for a while. Started a new job, where I'll be able to get a bit of time in the morning to get some drawing in. Having the fortune to substitute for one of the life drawing teachers for a while, I got the itch back to draw. I really want to get back to drawing regularly again, and to get my style back As I seem to have misplaced that somewhere a long the lines as well.
One of the main things that I want to improve is my ability to draw from my imagination, as I have trouble with that. So I was thinking of trying to at least do a 15 min daily sketch (or as much as my job allows).
#0 (still in teacher mode, sneaking some model time )
Cool stuff so far - I can see you're really someone who has their sense of looseness down. The advice I can give regarding your environments is to strongly consider where you can alternate light and dark rhythms in the values, and to also have a solid 3 value system (dark in front, medium in the middle and light out back). Hope that helps?
Regarding life drawing, the key is to understanding how energy moves through living forms - understand that, and the rest is pretty straighforward
thank you! I'll definitely have a look at the environment value system. I haven't really done that much environments before. I'm more of a portrait painter when it comes to 2D, so I have much to learn there! As with the moving energy... do you mean like actions and gestures of a person? The movement?
Got a start on the retop over the weekend. Still have the back of the cape to retop and the rope decor to retop, however I've run into the same problem that I usually end up with in this stage. I end up with a much lower tri count than what I intend, but I feel weird just adding more to up the tricount..... I think I need to study proper topology to see why I get that.
The limit for the challenge is 100K ... and I so far have 17,5K ...... with the back of the cape and the decor, and with a little more details, I might get up to 25K... Any tips, I'll gladly take!
Alright, when I look back at your gif that you have post I notice that in one stage it like the detail near the tooth changing plane looks like it a hard surface. Not sure if it is. But I thought you might have used a hard brush for some of the skull sculpt that all.

Update:
Anyway, this is the laaaatest updated version.
Learned how to set up a scene properly in Marmoset and how to get the material to be the way it would look nice
Happy to say that I'm quite happy with how it turned out!
Doing a likeness sculpt from a basemesh within an hour, hoping to see improvements
