Literally just saw the reveal on twitch, hope everyone else caught it
I'm bettting that they're doing the same thing again RE trailer stuff - making paintings and trailers more "action" but have the final product the same DX style, with proper colour palette choices etc
DX:HR is my favourite game of all time just because of that rich, show-don't-tell world, and a shades-of-grey approach to building a world to exist within. Not a huge amount we can really learn from what's out there.. apart from Adam has an even cooler coat, and his lungs are augmented
Hyped, but sad that they didn't go with a female protagonist, I want to be the Major goddamnit
Jensen didn't really have a personality beyond a "Cyborg coolguy", so they could have easily went with custom protagonists ala Mass Effect.
Adam Fem-Sen would be cool.
So much hyped for this. Hope the rumors of a cyber-Prague are true. That sounds rad as hell.
Although I gotta say, this new trailer is nowhere near as cool as the one for Deus Ex:HR. The pacing feels a bit all over, whereas the old one had that sweet buildup.
You do realize the mods can legally allow us to flog you for mentioning that... thing, right? :poly121:
Hey, at least it didn't have the involuntary camera switches ;p
DX:IW certainly wasn't a good game compared to the first one but... these days I like to think of it as the last Deus Ex game that
wasn't tainted by the whole "hollywood epicness" notion
True that, I always like the idea that he was basically "You know what!? FUCK EVERYTHING" because everyone else in that game was a huge asshole (with the notable exception of Pilot Lady).
I got the feeling, from this trailer, that it will be more of the same. I am not saying that I won't play it. More of the same will be fine with me since I loved HR. But this trailer seems devoid of depth.....just another romp in the world, which once again, I'm cool with. It just seems a bit shallow story-wise.
I know, it's just a trailer....but I can't help it.
I started off non lethal because strategically the tranq rifle is a much better starting weapon than the assault rifle, but the silenced handgun was soooo satisfying to get headshots with so I reserved non lethal for common crooks and went lethal on PMC's as I felt that was the most fitting for his character.
Blade takedowns are cool but I didn't like the way you get penalized for it so I'd do a non-lethal takedown followed by a silenced shot to the head just to prove a point.
I'm so excited! Although it's weird to watch a trailer where Jensen is straight up butchering people. Most of my time in HR was spent mainly hiding in a vent or reading emails.
Anyone remember the trailer(s) for HR that had Barrett jumping up and smashing Jensen's chest in the middle of a goon firefight? Never saw anything that Michael Bay-ish in the final product, so it's bound to be just so it makes for trailer material
I love the series but I just wish the AI had a bit more randomness thrown in. Endlessly following patrol paths makes the game feel to much like an elaborate puzzle game. An extremely enjoyable puzzle game, but I wish there was some random code in there that would make the AI chose to do something different once in a while.
But the architecture, music, fashion design, mood, are second to none imo. Cant wait!

If you can look past the dumb design decisions and technical problems, there is actually a decent game. It has a lot of the branching narrative structure that made the original game great and that didn't play a big part in HR. Here's hoping Mankind Divided brings a bit more of that side of things back.
Trailer is looking pretty if a little on the overly stabby side. Judging by the time period, it seems like we'll be heading towards the formation of UNATCO. Fingers crossed we run into a few more of the original games characters. I was slightly disappointed pre-aug Gunther didn't make an appearance in HR. He was working with the game's villains at the time.
Human Evolution had one of my most favourite soundtracks ever. Bought the deluxe version to get it. So so pleased to hear Michael McCann is back for this one.
I think I'm actually more excited for the soundtrack release than the game.
This trailer makes me wish I went lethal in my play through of Human Revolution, dem blade skills, hype!
I did, and it was amazing. I decided from the beginning to play it like the Terminator; punching my way through walls, breaking sculls, soaking bullets, and leaping from roofs.
Deus ex is my favourite game series ever, loved every game in it, even invisible war. Especially Human Revolution I'm not going to ignore its flaws though
Main story line was um... yeah... not that great. The environmental story did most of the heavy lifting on the subject of transhumanism(there was even a Nuke easter egg in the picus level, had me laughing for hours)
And that's great and all but less illuminati BS and more conflict between transhumanists and normies, thank you.
But segregation this segregation that.. This topic has been beaten to death in video games While it's a fun topic to discuss The answer is clear,
Segregation is bad, there's no confusion about it, everybody knows this.
Try more daring topics like the morality of nanotechnology The first Deus Ex sort of dealt with this.. sort of.. In the bulletin boards and data cubes. I mean the ability to spawn in whatever you want is not that far from being a reality Could destroy the economy of industrial countries
But then again... I know a certain group of people with a certain profession who hang out in a certain Digital art forum who will be swimming in 100$ bills...
The Illuminati is kinda of an integral part of Deus Ex lore, I cant really see them doing anything with the series and not having it be a major thing.

I cant think of any large number of games that have dealt with segregation.
So Im not sure how its been beaten to death in games. Seems like an area worth exploring. Nanotech on the other hand while cool as fuck. Is kinda of a cornerstone of scifi.
Sure Illuminati is sort of embedded in the Deus ex series but, reboots were supposed to update the series.
Deus ex Human Revolutions plot is literally Deus ex 1's plot but with better graphics(I know I'm over simplifying things but hey it's for the sake of time)
You start out with your HQ being raided by a terrorist organisation You have to deal with the local gang to do something You have to travel to China to invade a biotech company In the very same city you get to go in a club ... the game starts to do it's own thing In the end, you face a super augmented power hungry CEO that aims to take over the world somehow.
And as for the games dealing with segregation Well here's a list
The Witcher 3:The Wild Hunt (Humans and Non Humans)
Bioshock Infinite(Blacks and Whites)
...
I guess you're right, But still, there's no moral to be learned from a story like that, it's obvious Segregation is bad

Is it as obvious as you think though?
One of the American presidential nominees is scapegoating Mexicans, talks about building a wall, and wants to register muslims.
Norbert Hofer narrowly lost the Austrian presidency, appealing to nearly half the population with his Hitler inspired rhetoric.
Right wing nationalism is on the rise globally, with the Syrian refugee crisis at the forefront of this all, and xenophobia is becoming socially acceptable because it's "honest". Swiss People's Party, Hungarian Jobbik, and even the Danish People's Party are giving a huge voice to a lot of xenophobia.
I mean I haven't played the main story of the game yet (wanting to wait to play it in it's entirety as I'm a fan myself), but I'd imagine this particular franchise is capable of treating this subject with the bluntness of an allegorical baseball bat to the face.

Dude, i'd kill to get GITS SAC game from these guys. :P
I'd really love it if they could explore the setting a bit more GITS SAC style....
OH well, anyhow. Soooo looking foward to this, loved DE:HR....
the begining of nano augmentation?

Yes you did!
You can always play Deus Ex Invisible War, I'm pretty sure it had an option to play as a female Denton :poly124: :poly124:

Nice trailer though.
There's always the possibility he survived :P

its going to be interesting when cd project release cybepunk, feels like pretty heavy competition to the deus ex series.
And yeah, went through 5(or 7?) playthroughs of Human Revolution. One with dev commentaries because why not?
And Cyberpunk looks awesome as heck.
If they could not pull of a megascans and release it before 2077 it would be great.
but somehow the trailer of mankind divided give me different feels, it feel like action game
instead of RPG
