This is really great, but I'd like to see a less busy render without the white outline and striped background. I think everything but the model needs to be very simplistic to showcase the detail you've done.
turning my head inside out trying to get this style right! UGH. I feel like I generally know the technique, but I still have a bad sense of rhythm with my placement of details. Once again, my hard edges don't really feel crisp enough (and I'm 90% sure I'm using the same brushes and tools as the artists whose work I'm trying to emulate....)
does anybody know what I'm doing wrong. just need to practice more, i guess?
Have you tried the mallet brush in Zbrush? I think I'm using quick or fast mallet.. the more intense it is the deeper it'll take away from 1 plane.
It's a weird brush but I think you'll get used to it after a while.

Certainly on the right track! Im assuming youre referring to Fanny Vergne's tutorial in Vertex, perhaps chamfer those edges a little more.
Also, try making a brush/mask with "bigger" shapes/forms
Hey everyone this is a project Ive been working for a little now its the first episode for a free web-series Im starting called Lets Make. Lets Make is (other than a terrible use of grammar) a free online show where we get together and talk about design, fundamentals, theory, history and new techniques!
@Ysalex , how the hell you achieve such nice skin ? I'm trying to make a realistic man in blender, and using substance painter for te texture but,my god im such a noob :c
quality work LRoy - love the style
ysalex - nice piece, though is the forehead a bit tall?
eyebrows seems a bit heavy also, but I guess that could be just
down to stylism, personal pref?
Maybe i'm out of line here but maybe there could be a rule about not posting NSFW images in this thread? Just nonchalantly scrolling through this thread at work and then HIGH RES NAKED WOMAN!
So pumped for this Aesir!!! Have you released any info on the project yet?
I made this squarespace page: wildwoodsgame.com
Now, I'm sorry to do this to you, but I'm gonna have to crush your happiness a little. This is purely a trailer. Animated in 3dsmax. No development is happening right now.
Damn... well... not that you would need it, but if you ever needed some art help (or some coding help) if it ever gets some legs, I'd be more than happy to lend a hand.

Looks awesome either way, very cool idea!
Thanks man!
That's one of the reasons I made it. More people get interested in collabs and maybe someday we all make something rad.

Marco Splash - I freaking love that design.
makecg - that is so sick!!
Doing a sculpt of Dr. Hugo Strange from Batman, and Arkham City is a great source of reference.

Love that bunny warrior K-O-S!
Seems like all I've been doing lately is hair. Couple body changes to this as well. Face looks plastic, needs more spec breakup or something.
I'm setting up a gumroad too, for this sort of stuff: www.gumroad.com/ysalex

Next step: Posing my droid holding the gun and make the final images!
His longsword (my first hard surface model):
And I started working on his headdress yesterday:
Ben Grimm from Fantastic 4 in progress
Also made a pudding mold version of this.
Fish came out really good with the fish scales clear visible.
After failed printing it as a whole I made a 2 piece case out of it. Unfortunately the edges got warped a bit so it doesn't fit perfect.
Lost quite a lot of detail here, better would have carved it in more.
My uploaded models can be found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/Davision3d/designs
Havent had a chance to work on this guy for a few months, but finally got some spare time at home and i decided to redo it a bit.

Going to add some greenery to the scene; all crits welcome though!
