I see you are doing what I do when I'm frustrated with something, and that is radically altering/adding/removing stuff, to no end if not careful. Maybe it's time to go back to a concept and rework it until the concept itself is something you're really happy with?

I think I need to take a break from this for a while. I still gotta figure out what the horse really looks like , I'm just looking at the horses from Heroes of hte Storm right now and working without a concept.
The AO base is looking a little spotty if you wanted to smooth 'er out a bit. I like the black outline more but it looks offset around the body and hat. He's so cute and proper!
I've been watching your thread with interest. Noting you've shared this in the hand painted thread, I assume you're going to primarily rely on the diffuse/color textures to define the materials and forms of your model. Since that's the case, I'd like to suggest, that because right now, the lighting in your texture is very ambient, there is no description of a single light source. What would help your textures in a tremendous way would be to add some "Stage Lighting". I'd recommend making the overhead lighting strongest at the top of the head and gradually decrease its influence as it reaches the tops of her feet. You have an excellent base to work over, which is perfect, it should really help add an additional layer of complexity to your texture, making your forms read and add interest to your texture and model. Nice work!
Yeah I see what you're getting at. I'll probably try to get that into the texture at some point. I'm also very undecided even at this point wether I want to have this model diffuse only or with normal+spec. I'm still just experimenting.
