Its intimidating posting right now with all you posting up your awesome comicon challenge characters. Great job guys!
I've been working on a hand painted lumberjack character. Going to call the head finished... unless someone sees a way to improve it which is always welcome.
Some progress shots. Upper portion of the body is finished. Moving onto the lower half of the body and will be connecting the head soon! Then onto proper topology.
Well damn, there is so much awesome from the comicon contest! I'm still crunching away on the spec for my dude, but figured I'd show the submissions I put up for the contest. Happy arting peeps!
Man all of these comicon challenge submissions look great.
Scythe the polypaint looks awesome.
Kazperstan the textures on the flintlock are looking good.
I grew up watching a lot of the disney films, so I wanted to do a quick sculpt of one of my favorite characters, Lumiere from the Beauty and the Beast. This was done in Zbrush, and composited in photoshop.
So many characters! I love it!!! It was awesome to be a part of this with a TON of unbelievable artists. I can't imagine picking any one submission as a "winner", they are all fantastic in their own right.
Anyway, here is my entry for the Comicon Challenge (my first)!
Low poly progress on my mech. Still have to do the low poly for the arms, but I decided to do a test bake on what I have to mark my progress.
cool design. The only thing I question is the feet, the eye immediately goes to that bundle of wires, and wires aren't really what I equate with propelling huge mechs (imho).
So I created another sci-fi wall tile using only nDo2 and dDo, with a quick plane model to add basic shapes to the model.
render also contains an emissive map for some lights.
texture is based of a model created by Vincent Lim of cghub, I thought it was cool so I had a crack at trying to kind of replicate it.
link to his cghub here: http://stylize.cghub.com/
Whats funny is the fact I can't see the images I upload to dropbox due to my ISP.
I would also appreciate critiques, I need to seriously improve my texture workflow.
^Thank you i hate myself idk how i haven't figured this out already, sry that you had to pose for me..idk what is wrong anyway how about some comments to the art instead.

SlipGate:
I love the armor your building that is just personal piece or something to expect from Blizz soon? Wow-4 current gen perhaps? That might bring a lot of people back i can image that being a pretty epic game if it could handle all that extra geo.
onelung:
I hit up your thread looks great on PC too.
sunkist:

echo comments and will get to your thread sometime this week so many to get to.
Love it otherwise nice updates if you want and or can keep going and refine that badboy.
Was using Blender on and off for a while but decided to finally try and switch over to Max, with the help of Millenia's excellent tutorial. Considering this is my first finished model, I'm quite happy with it, though I rushed the texturing towards the end since I wanted to finish it tonight. Not sure whether to go back and work on it some more or start a new model and make that of a higher quality. Also, apologies for the rather gaudy render, I was so excited to be staring at something other than a spec map I got a bit carried away.
I spent all night and part of today optimizing and converting this scene from CE3 to UE4. Obviously everything is very WIP and the lighting is very blocked out and rough; still lots of tweaking to do! Check out the WIP thread in my sig!
First pass at some scifi objects made in Blender. Used dDo for first pass at textures, they need improvements (some shading errors in some of the normal maps).
Made the walkway this evening. Will iterate on it some more and fix some normal map errors.
Update number 3 for the Dwarf project. Got some more of the clothing blocked out and I am testing wrinkle patterns on some of the sashes and stuff. Still blocking out some things and need to switch to working on those rock arms. Toes need to be adjusted and I need to get some smaller objects done like the rope and little gems. All in all happy with the direction this is going. Crits and comments welcome! Enjoy!
Here is my finished entry to the comicon comp, not totally pleased with it but it was a great learning process and watching the other entries progress was extremely inspirational. Good work from all who entered! Peace!

Anything to change?
I've gotten super lazy with posting my stuff online, so here's a work in progress shot of a character I've been making for after work practice.

Red texture cause my links never embed.
Awesome work everyone sorry i didn't say that earlier.
You just needed to paste this:
No BBCode around it, just directly paste the URL with nothing around it.
You also had an extra w in wwww.youtube.com
Also, I believe it requires the http, but doesn't accept https.
