Can I please be given a rating on how close this is to a 9 or 10 sculpt, texture and render wise? Please help me out with whatever you think can be improve and why you would give it this rating in industry.
Please also explain why this is or isnt a good piece for industry. (I care less about being told to make only humans, orcs, maps, wires and etc for industry. Im doing two humans but also focusing only on animals afterwards to be very marketable. I want to be unique. I care less also that this is an easier character compared to everyone that makes only humans! I want to have variety and learn in any way that I can to improve and make everything I create within reason 9 and 10s. If these other pieces are included in a reel (maps/wires included), is this a good one to include if this demon hits a 9 or 10?).
It also looks like Polycount compressed my image quality! First post here so learning about this site!
Thanks so much.
You'd get more direct feedback probably if you made a separate thread in Pimpig and Previews. WAYWO is for ogling mostly.

...*Ahem* 3D Art Showcase & Critiques. The old name was Pimping and Previews. Just to clear that up so you know where to post. :poly124:
But yeah, WAYWO is basically the thread people just scroll through and look at pretty art on. If you want feedback, you want to make your own thread.
All these Riot entries are SICK! Great job to all of you who made it to the deadline. Also everyone else, this forum is truly something special.
Here is my contribution to the amazing WAYWO, I did this for a school assignment we had this week. Nothing fancy plus we weren't allowed to use PBR. 300 tris and 1024 textures were the limit. Concept and all fluff made by me, hope you people like it .

maybe make a thread for your creations, people dont respond much in "what are you working on" it looks really solid work so far.
I made a quick old-photo-look image with my fictional 1930's GP car. Pretty much done with this one and I might start a thread at some point.
Rendered in Quixel 3DO, edited in Photoshop.
Wow soooo many epic entries for the RIOT contest. Much WIN!
On another more retro note... I am remaking the shambler for quake 1. The original makes me cry. So I am making a version that will do the evil bugger justice ingame. My avatar and him might be distant cousins too... hmmm
Alright so I went and posed this character so I thought I'd try to show him here. I also made a workflow tutorial for all those who are interested. The full resolution version can be found on my website: http://christophschoch.com/resource.html. You can also check out the progress thread here. Anyway, I hope someone out there finds this useful.
Skiffy - mai god that wireframe is looking SO damn good!
I've been jumping in and trying to learn Unity proper. I made a version of Pong and I'm looking to build more onto it. Focusing on the art side now (for at least a day or 2) to try and learn about Unity's material / art workflow. Also getting deeper into the UI system as well (love the update).

so if i can add my 2 cent :
Hey tbh, the reason I'd usually tell : practice a fuckton on anatomy first is for a simple reason. Most design/monster/everything scary that actually work really well do so because they are based upon the human anatomy. It works because the human eye and brain have something to relate to and then transcribe it to understand what makes it scary
If you go for crazy, unrelated design then the connction might no happen and you'll have something that will not be visually as striking.
If I look at the concept, just in the arms there is a lot of human anatomy right there, in the placements of the muscles, that I can't find on your model.
I can see that you've put some details like wrinkle, but I think they comes seconds in terms of importance. I think the character here lacks a good silouhette, which is way more important.
Texture wise, i wouldn't say it's not good, but it's generic. there's nothing differenciating your monster from others. red is a very used color for anything monster-like and in my opinion stopped having a effect long ago. trying some other colors might lead you to find something interesting.
All around I wouldn't say it's a bad piece but it's a very common piece. (not that MUCH of everything is *really* original) My advice would be to train more. The problem is not about making monster or orcs or human or flying cats from space with lasers, but in my opinion, it lacks silhouette and anatomy. I know it's the *problem* with Zbrush and it's appeal to make a lot of details.
The characters, weapons and vehicles I (re)modeled/textured for The Eridanus Insurrection are coming together nicely. It's really interesting throwing together large-scale battles with the current UNSC forces.

Might as well join all the Riot contest pimping
