Scythe: The guy wants them like that. I feel it sorta gives a bit of weight to him, but I agree that they're a bit heavy. I'll negotiate lightening them up a bit
Neox: Oh, Neox! The day I please you is the day I succeed at life! Haha! The customer and I both like the look of it. It's meant to be windbreaker, yeah. I think the thing that might be throwing you off is the fact that the jacket has so many folds it appears incredibly light!
I recently started my first homemade Model. I have done some for school, but none for my own.
I hope its not too bad, or the wrong thread (if it is, please tell me)
I also hope to get some feedback to my work, so feel free to give some
I am a big fan of the artstile of Warhammer 40k so i decidet to do the Elysian Tauros Venator, here is a picture of the real model
I just started doing the rough shape of it.
I am trying to work quad only, but now i have one problem: I got here a triangle and i don't know how to solve this.
So now I have one quastion to you all out there: can I cut the biggest face of the triangle so I get a quad with a vertex directly on a straight line like in the picture(the triangle i'm talking about is selected)?
some sculpts from life (which did not entirely suck) i did at the THU workshop in portugal, the left one is Yangtian Li who posed for the portrait paint session of Jana Schirmer, the other is supposed to be her husband Mathias Verhasselt, which i sculpted why he was doing his talk.
Ridiculous work in here allready, best thread on the net!
Saw an awesome pic of a cool jet helmet + watching too many samurai movies = this.
Sorry I just had to let you know...that this is awesome! Love the whole samurai went to the future concept. The design is sweet and crisp. Graphics are to date and the art is amazing itself. The concept is beautiful and honestly, if I were to see this character in a game, I'd play it all day. Keep it up!
the problem i have with the cloth is, what kind of material is it supposed to be? it looks all like its a very light material. its kinda cool kinda clothy but what is it? some windbreaker material? its all soooo noisy
I agree 100%.
I would go so far as to say ALMOST all of the cloth I have seen out of Marvelous Designer looks exactly the same....thin and lightweight. I am sure there are some exceptions but all in all I feel like it is starting to become the new "Lens Flare".
This is by no means a comment or critique on peoples work...Just something that has been on my mind lately.
Some personal practice i've been doing to blow away some cobwebs (quite literally!) Hopefully I've been able to include a fair few different materials to make texturing this thing interesting
I agree 100%.

I don't think if it that way. See, adding a lens flare provides no actual value to a piece, unless it's done properly. It's just a way of masking poor composition at the worst of times. I hope that's not the case with mine, but I really like the look that comes out of MD. Agreed, almost everything that you get out of it is thin-appearing.
Believe me, if I had time to learn how to sculpt cloth, I would. Fortunately, the material was to be a windcheater/breaker sort of material, due to the desert environment they're in.
penE: that is one sexy enviro man, its shaping up to be thick with atmosphere!!!
Honestly I think this character is awesome. I think the thick armor makes her beast. She looks like she would land heavy blows on some foes with that sword. The person definitely payed attention to detail and lining. Great job.
Amazing stuff here, made me want to upload an image of my latest work, it's not amazing, though.. It's alright, I guess. It's not done, I oughta finish it real soon...
Here's an animated version of the Cleopatra portrait I posted here the other day. It's designed as an icon that's animated in-game. Two alternate versions of the animation are shown back-to-back.
This animation was created by bringing the Photoshop layers into After Effects, and then using the puppet pin tool and built-in particle editor.

I'm finishing the vertical tension ropes and the dart LPs before I start some serious texturing.:)
