A while back I posted this shuttle-door render and decided to do a whole scene around it. All textures with the new Quixel Suite. All normals also with nDo. Rendered realtime with Marmoset Toolbag 2. Dunno, might take it a bit further with more detail and objects later.. or not
Nice work, man! Have you given thought on the mood details? It could end up like some crusty hallway from any of the Alien movies. Keep it up!
I have finished my scene for now. I'll move on to another project, occasionally going back to it to apply critique or fresh knowledge.
Every time I see this thread I'm completely blown away by all the awesome work posted. Here's my progress on this guy. Got everything baked out. Cleanup/texturing and hair left. Hopefully by next weekend I'll be able call it done.
I made it a goal to put out some more tutorial content, for for anybody interested, here's a 20 min video with some tips and tricks for painting vertex colors in Maya and using them to help drive world position offset based materials.
Continuing to test the new Quixel Suite. About 95% dDo. Dynamask is awesome, scanned materials are fantastic, 3Do is wonderful... such an excellent set of tools.
@Devmatt Your high poly car looks nice! Your low poly isn't doing your high poly justice though. I would add more geometry to make your silhouette match your high poly more. There's too many faceted edges.

Still plugging away

There are more shots in the thread itself, and links to high-res versions on my portfolio site.

Would love to see how you went about this, its a lot of stuff going on in the vertex shader, but curios about what is driving the effect texture wise

Oh yeah I scrapped most of the previous one. Hands have "more curves" but still robotic. I'll share a screen tonight
Thanks for the interest by the way, really motivating
