can you tell me which software did you used for to bake your AO, normal and bent normal ? i noticed you didn't specified it in your tutorial-pic... aside crazybump or knald that i haven't yet bough, i guess i can use dDo for baking the detail map
Hey everyone! Here's a space whale final concept based on our roughs and designs with plenty of changes. Our first guy here will be the basis of much gameplay. More to come!
@allaze-eroler: I don't really mess with the setting that much because they usually come out clean Try it out and let me know how it goes!
Here's Eva the Space Nurse again! She's about 99.9% there, just messing with some final touches and her much needed spec map on the glassy bits. Enjoy!
So im going to be working on this sad pathetic space whale within the coming days. i want to stream the sculpting and painting phase for anybody thats interested in seeing workflow etc. in the meantime, heres a basemesh
thanks for the encouraging words guys, going to be streaming today around 4. Im really new to live streaming my stuff so bare with me (^_^) stop by and say HAI
You three are little legends in my book, fantastic art all round and I enjoyed the stream the other night Striker, but it was getting a tad late here and I had to get some kip. So is there any chance you can upload them in future?
Loving this. The front end of the whale looks fantastic, the tail makes me think it's a shark though since it has a vertical tail. Fish and sharks swim moving their spines side to side with vertical tails and whales swim by moving their spines up and down with horizontal tails.
@Y_M: Thanks! & thanks for the feedback. This guy isn't a traditional whale in any sense. I can't speak for our concept artist, but I'm sure he was aware of this and changed it up to make it even more alien. Space "whale" may only reference the size and not the anatomy... I hope that makes sense!
We're streaming some space whale again today at 2PM PST, if anyone wants to check it out!
back on blubber this week, just more tweaking until i dive in with details got his iron lungs placed (tweaking left) and his little thermometer in. much to do!
Thanks turpedo and D4V1DC, the gameplay will take place inside the whale. we have plans to use him for the menu (prob just like averys concept) the ships holograms could have the "start", "options" etc

@allaze-eroler: I use XNormal to bake my AO and Bent Normal maps.
