@Jeff Parrott: I love the color harmony and the shading on your work
Thanks guys! I'm glad someone got a kick out of these.
I still think the original character textures from Quake 3 are some of the best to study for hand-painted work. Kenneth Scott just rocks my socks off! I hope to reach that level someday.
To that end, I shall be abusing a few more Quake 3 characters. Soon! :poly130:

Old stuff. I've been spending too much time doing tech stuff lately. This thread makes me want to do some new work!
here is mine:
rest of this art dump is here: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126208
Here's a rock floor texture that I made over today and yesterday using Zbrush for the sculpt and Photoshop and nDo2 for painting and extra normal map details
Here're mine's- this is probably my ever attempt at doing hand painted from scratch. The turntable texture is ref but everything else is from scratch
Hey thank u so much, haha yeah- I think when I was doing these, I was imagining the Corona TV ads XD
All the stuff on here is just incredible. Nice Work Guys.
Here's my little input.
Hope you like
P.S. Most of you have probably heard of her, but here is a link to one of Jessica Dihn's Threads.
She's pretty amazing.

I don't get the chance to make much of this style anymore but here's one of my favorite older characters created for the game Dojo Madness .
i am a handpainted noob but i hope you like it
I was really liking hand painted stuff then rnoaml maps came into the scene and ruined everything!
here are some of mine from days gone by:
and lastly some anime, non dragonball z

Mr Smo - awesome stuff!
So, sorry... FAIL
Mr Smo > cool stuff ! I like the first character but I think you could gain some readability with a top-bottom black&white blend overlay so the chest pops a bit more. The second piece is also great but I think it could benefit from a little color variations. It's too gray for me. Also, love the barbarian
Mehroke > Wooaaw so cool ! Care to share a bit the process ? especially the grass. Did you use 3d meshes as a start point or something ?
My participation, already posted on the What are you working on thread but I thought this thread was more appropriate
C&C welcome !
The work is here is great so far. I really hope this thread persists!
To answer some questions...
@snake85027 For everything I have shown I use 3DSMax and Photoshop only. Fixing the seems is an old trick using a temporary secondary unwrap.

@Torch The most success I've had with evading the muddy looks is to avoid using black for shadows and instead pick a dark but fairly saturated color.
After watching some really helpful texture painting videos by Jamin Shoulet had a go at making a wooden crate texture.
@Cresmuss: Those dragons :P
My Blade of Caos
DougClayton4231 > Thanks
scapulator > love the horse and warrior !! Reminds me of Dragons Hunters movie and also the King and the Mocking bird
JaySmitt > cool start, crates are fun to do. I hope you don't mind this quick and rough paintover to show you what can be done to push that crate a little bit further.
Wow thanks a lot man, you really made that crate pop. I take it that my initial texture lacked contrast, something I'll be sure to fix next time around.
