I saw the wrinkle map work Frank Tzeng and Rafael Grasseti did for Killzone so i felt inspired to try and do the same but i think i need to exaggerate the wrinkles a lot more, way harder than i imagined to get good looking expressions. still work in progress though
hey guys, i have been super lazy in getting back to my old dude but this weekend i had some fun sculpting korra and its always cool to go outside one's comfort zone from time to time
Eyes seem a bit too big and a bit overly tired/wrinkly/saggy. His forehead could do with being a bit wider (possibly flatter to the front - hard to tell with the one angle). I think that forehead is a real Kevin Spacey characteristic.
The area between his nose and mouth seems a bit too long (Obicularis Oris?)...
Nice work. He's one cool cat.
thanks guys, its definitely very rough still, problem with likeness is after a while you cant tell if it looks like the guy or a turd xD i should update soon
Definitely recognizable, but I think you are exaggerating the size of his nose. The bags under his eyes have a bit too much depth to them as well. Keep it up loving the work in here!
yeah its just plains with alphas i am waiting to finish him and post it and then i will also post flats, just been super busy with work lately and didnt have time to finish him
Hey guys so my friend Joeri Vromman was kind enough to let me use his gun for the old guy, i still need to finish texturing him but now that he has the gun he certainly looks a lot cooler :P took some screens for you guys to check it out
Hey guys since some people asked for it i thought i would share the alphas for the mustache and eyebrows, as you can see its pretty simple and straight forward, if i was to do longer hair though it would be slightly diferent, longer and more fuller clumps of hair most likely depending on the hair
Yo man nice progress on the old dude, lookin forward to dat texturing.
Your Spacey definitely has similar features and is recognizable but his general face proportions are still off, you should spotlight ref over the sculpt itself rather than looking at ref images separately. You've improved it since the first wip, but that had huge proportional issues like giant anime eyes. It's best to get the proportions right early on so that features are easier to match as you go. Direct ref sorts that out alot sooner.
looking really nice! you should do higher rez renders of that guy though, cant see all the detail from that far, its a shame since you spent so much time on it.
hey guys, thanks for all the feedback, been a long time and i have been super busy with contract work but since the new UE4 update i started messing around with the skin shader, dont mind all the other materials they are just to put the face in context.
marmoset was updated with secondary reflections and double sided meshes so i updated the model. and i am still working on the robot dude but meanwhile i guess i will drop a small update
Beautiful work!! I am currently in the process of trying to create a self portrait at the moment and love how you have created this piece.
Was wondering if I could ask advice on how you did the hair? How you made it appear soft and shiny with good opacity. Im having trouble trying to adjust the opacity of the hair on mine as it keeps appearing too 'cut out', especially in marmoset.

Do you mind posting some flat shots of it? I am just working on a character with facial hair and am having a hard time getting it right.

I look forward to more work in the mean time!
