Hey man, can't applaud your organic/hard surface mixed skills enough. This is looking great. I can really see Mr. Nash's influence on it too.
I think the ringlets along the collar are a bit too much, but I like the directions it's all going. Some cleaning passes etc. this could be pretty bad-ass.
thanks a lot man i tried to do a full body for him but i wasn't happy with it, so i deleted it and i will try again later. thanks for the kind words man! looking forward to see you latest work as well man!
Love the mech sketch! Clearly a lot of influence from Mike Nash's stuff but it's got it's own unique feel, good job Likeness sculpt is great as well, I feel like the eyes may be a little close together but this might just be the FOV, the likeness is there though it's very recognisable!
I like the likeness, and can appreciate how hard are they as I'm attemping a female actress myself
One thing I'd crit tho; is the eyebrows need to be refined. Loki has quite refined, thinner brows then those you've made, infact they look similar to that of an older gentleman. I also thing the eyes could be a little wider, if you look at where the mouth ends and where it should line with the iris; its off centre
Hope this helps ( and your work btw is amazing - big fan )
Hey guys! really appreciate the feedback! i know the likeness is still not quite there so i will make sure to keep an eye for those problems in the next exercise meanwhile here is something i starter yesterday and worked on during a live stream today, it was my intention to do something more organic this time around and i was heavily inspired by Ben Mauro and Aaron Beck, i am liking the overall idea but the flow of shapes is not really working for me, anwyay i hope you guys like it
Hey guys just posting a blockout of a character i am working on, she was supposed to be Asian so i failed on that xD nevertheless i am happy with the face, hope you guys like it!
The face on that last one looks bad ass, I really like the direction with it in general and YES to the short hair!
Nice work here man, I see great improvement over the course of this thread.
continuing my study of asian facial features its still not very Asian i guess xD i keep trying to make them look pretty lmao i think i will practice a male Asian next time cause i don't do male faces in a very very long time
an update on the killzone inspired character i am working on, TitanFall as kept me away for a while xD so hopefully i will get back to this at full speed :P still a lot of stuff i want to work out i still feel a lot of shapes are not up to the art direction of the game but it will get there
still a lot of work to do on cloth in general and only started detailing the face although i am thinking of reworking it a bit, using mostly last of us sculpts as reference for quality so still a lot to do to even get close xD
Thanks man, i try my best to get better with every character so i try to choose characters i think will be challenging. yeah i just try to show things directly from zbrush so i never retouch the screens usually.
Hey guys just wanted to share something i am messing with for Node World. just trying to find the overall direction i am going in, i will probably do some more distinct variations of the helmet and later the boddy to see where it goes.
Amazing work, would love to see you setup Livestreams or participate in the Monthly Noob Challenges, Also do you mind giving rough estimates of the time you spent per model, Im a fan of my speed, but I think yours practically doubles it :P
Hey Nemecys! thanks man it usually depends a full character usually takes me 3 weeks including concepting but it will depend on how complex a character is. for speed sculpts it really depends since i iterate a lot on designs which is something i tend to focus, for the 2 guys up top i think the helmet took me around 1 to 2 hours to figure out but i am not really sure since i dont usually time it xD
Antone_m its actually super easy xD you just use the toyplastic material and paint a black dot the size of the entire iris and then around it you paint with the color you want with low intensity then you just adjust the color and hue values to get the brighter spots and color variation in the iris, finish it up by just polishing the inner black part a bit and adjust where the lighting is coming from for the best results, also dont use total white for the white part of the eyes so that you can have the higher values in the iris instead. hope that helps
Edit: i sometimes adjust the actual material and bring up the diffuse and ambient settings to make it feel more alive but it depends on the effect i am trying to convey, sometimes having the eyes darker can work better
Got some time this weekend to work on that old guy i have been doing, so i laid out some quick polypaint and started messing with marmoset 2, still tonnes of work to do, and then i will move on to the clothing, hopefully i will have more time to finish this dude
small update before going to bed, tweaked a bunch of stuff but everything except for the face are placeholders at the moment, still want to tweak the textures on the face to try and push it further, hopefully will be able to do it this weekend
hey guys, the last update this weekend, tweaked the face and lighting and started working on the mustache and eyebrow cards, still room to improve but i think i am on the right track now
Thanks guys! i been super busy with contract work so i will probably only be able to update this during the weekend.
Stevston89: sure i will probably post it once i am done with most of it, but its really simple, i find that the simpler the alpha is the easier it is to get better results, i will try and post it this wekend
Thanks guys! happy you like it! still a lot of work to do on the clothing all the spec maps and gloss maps are just flat at the moment.
stevston89: i am actually following a concept from the awesome Dennis Chan (http://www.artstation.com/artwork/dude) so i am trying to keep the materials mostly like the concept and since i sculpted the material to be something else it wouldnt really work as another material fold wise, but thanks for hte sugestion man i am always open to feedback

One crit, and I have said this before (shakes finger at you)
Just check the levels on your images. As they often come off very flat.
Difference
On top of it making your forms a bit easier to read, it also ups the presentation a bit. Just a suggestion, keep on kicking ass.
