@ Kartoonhead-- I deal with the same problem w/ my machine.. only sport about 4 or roughly the same as you ...and I had about 50 sub-tools w/ over 3mil polys each.
Seriously?! My machine can only manage ~3mil across all subtools before it runs out of RAM and either refuses to perform any resource hungry tasks like Dynamesh, or just crashes.
@garriola83 Thanks for that I think i was displaying it incorrect, I've been working on it more today, hopefully this is better considering your comments.
I thought since they are starting the 6th challenge I should just put my updates in here rather than dig up that old thread. next up are the square bases directly under the camera
Here is my postappocar. Based on lots of different cars but mostly a 69 Camero. I'm not sure how much detail I should cram in there. I might change the "windows" some, then attack it with zb before making the LP model. The rust textures will do the rest.;)
Hey everyone, I recently got my portfolio/resume/blog together and was hoping to get some feedback/ constructive criticism on it! I am currently looking for work in the game industry as an environment artist/ art director.
Thanks! www.donaldbarrettstudio.weebly.com
practicing hair and so far marmoset seems to be the best in handling alpha blending although with some weird stippling effect. 4k texture and ~20k triangles for hair.
I am working on a 100% correct Gameboy model. I got that idea when I found my old disassembled Gameboy again. the bottom halfe is not finished yet but most of the top is already finished.
Very slick work as usual, Poop!
I think the shoulders could stand to have another loop, though. They seem to stand out as the most lowpoly part of him, especially when animated.
Hey guys, here is a quick project I'm hoping to have nearly done in the next few days. A hand painted low poly character. It is something that isn't represented in my portfolio well.
I will most likely be making a low poly yak as well to accompany her.
I'm basing her mostly off of this photo.
I'm hoping to get some critiques or comments, so let me know what you think.
got this guy done recently for a client. Hoping to have a nice posed render soon when it comes back from the rigging guy on the project. medieval chars are pretty fun.

Trying to improve my sculpting skills..
This is one of the projects I'm working on right now
I decided to concept, model and texture this Wagon following the Diablo III style.
Story:
Basically this wagon just rides at night in the woods looking for lost people to torture...
Doing some rough paint overs before texturing, I still need to finish uv's and some modeling changes...
Tell me if you prefer A or B
Some more progress on the drift car project, I just wish I had more time to work on it!
lost the spec maps I had originally, but I think it does not need them as much.
