ddaaaaaaaaaaaamn! 3 pages already? y'all are cray (cray). I've started noodling around with things, sculpted a basic head and am trying to figure out proportions.

Her proportions are pretty funky at the moment, so that is priority now. Once I'm happy with the base body I'm going to sketch some stuff on top before I start modeling any armor bits. My plan is for a suit of armor based on the description of the cherubim from the bible.
With some baroque printed cloth stuff to help tie everything together.
Were all aiming to be done by mid - end january sometime. But we'll see what happens....
So excited for this one guys- you're all super talented It'll be nice to see the results. It's been said, but yeah, mad props to you for designing your own Daphz. I have tons of respect for 3d artists who are also willing to make their own concept.
Got a bit of a head start. Blocked out and worked on a few things. Something isn't feeling right translating the concept to more natural proportions. Going to see if I can exaggerate some things and find a balance.
Hair is a placeholder. Going with planes for game res.
Here's the skin matcap if anyones wondering. It was a little bright for me, might take some adjusting.
Wow starting to look great already LRoy. I especially love the cloth parts. Dit you use a cloth tool or was it all hand sculpted? And maybe it's me being tired but i feel like the part between her nose and upper lip is a bit to accentuated.
daphz: nice job so far, can't wait to see your interpretation of cherubim armour ^^
LRoy: good start! quick question, are her arms too short? or is the robe just giving off that effect? might be the angle though, either way, loving it over all
Hmm if you'd draw a line in the curve that the hand would follow going down i think it would land and her hips. Pretty average isn't it? Think it's really just the cloth sleeves that make it look shorter.
i think the arms are a bit short. Again, it's hard to say due to the sleeves - but i think the elbows would line up near the bottom of the rib cage where the should be around the obliques...and the fingers should reach out to just past mid-thigh. Or it could be that there's an elbow bend i can't read through the sleeves and i'm just talking nonsense.
Hey Mike, that's looking really good. I was about to comment on the length of the arms being too short but people beat me to it XO The face is spot on though, you really got a feminine look there. These are coming along great
EDIT: Is her chin slightly too low, or is there something up with the jawline? Just a thought, nice one
LRoy and Daphz are killing it! And I know Mrskullface has got some awesomeness to share, hopefully soon
Here's my progress so far. I still need to do a lot of tweaking, but I wanted to block in some proportions and get the basic structure of the facial features down.
I've just used a base mesh for the body rather than using dynamesh because I wanted to have a bit more control over my topology & subdivisions. I have used dynamesh on the hair though (very rough atm).
I've tried to match the proportions of the concept and I did a quick polypaint of the face/eyes to see how it would look with some colour.
i promised myself i wouldn't get excited but how is that possible
LRoy: Sjieeeeeeet, thats one pretty face also like the clothflow so far
Daphz: loving those proportions man , also cute face
afisher: looking good, her philtrum feels a bit too pronounced imo but that could also be because of the materials
Killin work you guys are doin! 4 deadly beautiful characters for sure...
Lroy.... wow....
Afischer....love the concept that you picked... i wanna ask you about your polypaint workflow... any special thing or just start painting...? Cuz I never tryed it... and looking at your work... definitly is outstanding!
Thanks for your time... keep working on awesomnes guys!
@almighty_gir - I agree about the nose, I thinned out the bridge of the nose a bit, and made her brows a bit softer.
Here's where I am with my concept. It's still pretty rough but I think the basic idea comes across.
I want to add some more intricate filigree stuff and play with the shapes a bit more, but I'm probably going to do that once I start modeling instead of going further in the concept.
I haven't settled on a weapon yet, I might go with an axe instead or somekind of pole-arm. Or maybe even a bow.... what do you guys think?
After a little more futzing with the base body I think I'll be ready to start blocking in armor shapes.
awesome progress daphz!
i'm realy loving your character, she really gives me the idea of a "deadly lady"... being bottom heavy but with nice curves and the strong expression with gentle eyes ...aaa you got me xD
A bow probably wouldn't suit someone with such heavy armour, so I think a couple axes or short-swords would work well.
A two-handed weapon such as a long-sword might look a bit too masculine.
@daphz
I think a pole-arm would be awesome - it's slender and can have some really awesome shapes and/or decorations like ribbons and such at the end - and appropriate for the armor.
Just a curiosity, what was your thinking behind the 3 different animals? i like it, i'd just like to know how you came to that.
I really love the proportions on your sculpt - but imho the armor is too blocky. especially with the shoulders it all looks a little masculine. I think you're trying to stay away from the idealized proportions and all that - which is awesome, but just pushing the shapes a tiny bit might help at least sell the gender a little better. You said you were gonna do that later, though...so awesome.
it also makes me sad that you're covering up her face
and it'd be bitchin if you could squeeze some of the animal details into the helmet
Ah these are all awesome already guys, I'll be here watching
Daphz - I love the concept so far, she reminds me of that crazy warrior woman from game of thrones. Please don't make her skinny
Afisher - I love your characters body shape, plus the really pale skin and vivid blue eyes look nice. IMO they should make it into your final polypaint
LRoy - Those be some really nice ....... Clothes good job!

Definitely starting to get a bit more pink the further you get left on that boob...
Yeah I think the arms might be a bit short? but really great work man.

po because i'm procrastinating this morning...
I don't think I'd ever call that model chubby.
Anyway...
Cool stuff, guys!
Comparing with the standard skinny supermodel shape that 99% of all warrior females seen in CG Art forums have... I'd say she is.
I'd say pleasantly plump.
Great progress guys, looking forward to more updates!
I'd say real life proportions.
Yup.
